I have a job with two processors. Series 8 and Series 4. I can connect to them with rs232 and control them. I didnt do the programming, so I don't have the file. We are taking the job over. I tried extracting the project and it keeps giving me an ABORT about halfway through the extraction process. Any ideas?

I am pretty unfamiliar with illuminations and tech support was no help.

What version software are the processors on? You need to use the same version to extract the program.

regardless, You should get someone in there that IS familiar with illuminations.

The processors are on 1.22. Lutron told me to be on 1.65.

Is that the difference maker? I know how to access processors, extract projects, and set up the IP, but programming in illuminations is something I have never done. I've never come across this error before and was hoping it was just something easy I was missing. I can do everything in terminal EXCEPT for extracting the project.

Contact support and get the extraction utility if you have not yet. It may help, but it sounds like you are hosed. We are in the same boat on a take over job. The file is corrupt on the processor. That was what tech support told me. It happen quite often on processors that are old and have not been touched in a long time. No reason why a file might go corrupt, but that was their claim. The system functions fine, but we cannot pull the file and make any changes. It sucks, but it will eventually come to a point where the client will either have to pay us to re-program the system from zero, or replace the processor with a QS processor AND reprogram it.

the system should be updated to 1.65 once you have the program extracted. I've never had luck trying to exract a program unless I was on the same revision currently running on the processor.

Lutron does not have an official release for 1.22 on their site. that means it was a beta release, or there was a critical bug that required a rapid hotfix(1.23 IS available)

I would download v1.23 from the mylutron site and try to extract the program with that. But as Audiophiliac mentioned, its not uncommon to see the program file corrupted on the processor and unable to be extracted.

Someone may have to play nice with the original programmer/installer or get to work on reprogramming the entire system.

Contact the original installer and ask for the file. The worst that can happen is they say no and you are exactly where you were. 99% of the time we are able to get the original files from the previous company. The company i work for has been around so long that the homes we did have been sold a couple of times and the latest owner has their own AV guy. In those cases we have actually met with them on site to go over the system we did, wiring, nuances etc. It doesn't have to be a war :)

How did you extract the file?
Procedure:
create a Temp project with the same processors in it. All of them not just the one your connecting to.
Save the file.
Connect to one of the processor and try to extract. Use default password.

At least I'm not the only one having fun with this scenario. Unfortunately, I'm not a homeworks dealer, so need to find someone to extract and convert the file for me, and then from there need to troubleshoot the one shade that isn't working. I'm almost hoping the homeowner says to get rid of the shades entirely at this point.

Why would you want to get rid of the Lutron Shades?
They typically work as reliably as the Lutron system.
If you are not a Lutron dealer, can you not just find one in your area and work with them?
1 shade not working could be as simple as a blown fuse.

That was just the frustration of a bad day talking (lifting a rack out of a cabinet that set off the torn rotator cuff didn't do much for my mood). Unfortunately, there's no homeworks dealer near me. I have reached out to the area rep to help me find one to bring in. I hate to have someone come from 2 or more hours away for something as simple as extracting and converting a program file and troubleshoot a single shade (which I'm going to check today to see if it's as simple as a loose connection, or something more sinister), but it is what it is.

As for the shade, first thing I would check is fuse.
If there are many shades, they typically get wired to a shade power panel.
Inside the panel each shade connection is fused and will have a green LED that should be lit up. If you see wires going to a connection and the green LED is not on, fuse is probably blown. There are extra fuses located within the panel too.
Good practice to power down the panel first, then replace the fuse.

This may at least solve one issue.

If it is the fuse. Make sure to run it up and down about eleventy-billion times. In my experience, if it's blowing fuses it will continue to do so.

Mind if I PM you some pics with questions attached? I checked the fuses as you described, and they're all green lights. But I did find something that certainly looks like the root of a problem. I just won't be able to actually test it as the system is
