I have a TIVO (at a clients house he already own it ) I did a revamp of the system ,and I want to use the sat box and cable (no box) on same tivo.they said I could do it. I hook it up right. per manual and it dosen,t work I go thru the set up and there is no option for both combined of course there supports on help. what am I doing wrong?

Why bother? Although it can be done you and your client are in for many more headaches. With the Integrated DirecTV TIVO units avalible for under $100.00 and local channel avalibilty there is no point in complicating the issue with the stand alone TIVO.

he already has it but maybe i can talk him into get the tivo/sat combo when he upgrades his box to hd but he paying me to make work. And thats my job

Yes that is your job, but he is probaly going to end up spending more than $100 in your labor charges to make it work.

I'm questioning the need for both being connected to the TIVO. If he wants to use cable when he's recording off his sat, then use cable as a seperate input to the TV.

he would like to watch his sat well he records his other shows off of cable.and sometimes he wants to record movies off sat . but I guess I will just get him to spend some more money for a new sat/tivo box thanks for your help .
