I have a customer that is looking to zoom in on a 18 x 24 inch work area from about 20' away on a 10 foot stage.

I figured ptz for the ability to scroll back and forth between right and left handed demonstrators and the zoom for achieving the zooming in on work area.

I would like the camera to be IP so I could use an ip camera ap to put image on 2 local televisions.
I would also need the ability to control camera in regards to ptz from a remote or phone ap.
There currently is no DVR and its a single camera location being used strictly for putting the image on the 2 televisions.

any suggestions for camera brand or model numbers would be great.

Why do you need IP to distribute to tvs? Assuming you will be putting a dvr/nvr in, you can go with whatever you'd like. I just put some HDCVI ptz dome cams in from G4 that need nothing but coax and power. A lot less headaches than IP to be honest. The cams we used are only 1.3 mp but look great. I can grab some screenshots later if you'd like.

Doesn't have to be ip. Unless it's for control or video dist. It wouldn't need a dvr it's not bring used fort monitoring or security. Just to give a close up of what ther presenter is working on.

Right now I have an ip bullet that I use an ip cam ap on the Sony tv to pull up image. They never mentioned ptz functionality until the end of the Install. Their mistake bit was trying to find them a $$ amicable solution but if it's not available then they will have to pay me to run me wires etc

I don't think that I would use an IP security camera for this.

I would probably steer them more to a Vaddio PTZ camera solution.

(No latency at all and cheaper than IP, plus it's 1080p)

Or just get an analog camera with zoomable lens.
Set it and forget it.
It'll be a lot cheaper too than PTZ if all they're looking for is a fixed point.
Now, it the stand/stage move... PTZ FTW.

if you are stuck on vaddio then realize you will be spending 3-4 times the amount for the same solution

Mario's question has a hint of what occurred to me: Do they want to see the camera zooming and panning, or do they just want it focused on that small area?

And there are two areas; could you have a camera focused on each area and switch back and forth?

Keep in mind that mechanized zooming looks pretty crude, as crude as the old pan-n-scan videos. That's because a motor starts up panning at full speed, not gradually like a cameraman would.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Vaddio is ok. Panasonic is better. If you have access to a distributor (like Synnex) they are having a crazy good close out deal on the AW-HE60 for about $2,300.

I don't have any experience with the Panny camera, but Erik, what do you not like about the Vaddio cameras?

I haven't had any problems with them at all. Their tri-synch settings for presets are great! Smooth transitions from one preset to the next. Image quality looks great too.

rbh,

What is an IP cam ap?

Are you using an app from within the Sony smart tv or something totally different?

@AVX - Most Sony tvs now have android built in so you can install whatever normal app store apps and they work relatively fine. I've also seen ipcamviewer installed on some smart tvs so it could just be that.

@OP - would you rather have an IP solution with it's latency and $2-3000 price tag or tvi/cvi at 1080p for about $500?
