I have a customer who is building a media room, and the projector will need to be 22'
from the screen. He wants a 110' screen the price of the projector will need to be 12.000 or less. I cant find a projector to give me that size screen from that distance. I would appreciate any suggestions you can give me. Thank you.

Not necessarily... Check out Buhl lens' They build aftermarket lens' for many projectors
[Link: navitar.com]

This comes straight from the commercial side of things where extremely long throw distances are pretty common. You'd be surprised how many "Consumer" projectors have a Comercial chasis(Well, maybe not surprised.........) and how many projectors out there that have lens options... Just not offered through the OEM manufacturer.

THe buhl Lens' are extremely high quality and you should be able to find a projo that will fit in that budget just fine. Even with the aftermarket lens.

Dreamweaver HD2+ Will work for that screen size you can mount this projector between 19 and minimum of 14 feet so there is a lot of play. I am a dealer for just about every popular projector out there, so I can tell you from experience that the Dreamweaver hands down beats them all for picture quality, customer service, ease of installation and wire management. It’s also the best looking. Here are some pictures of the unit [Link: mastertheaterbuilders.com] also comes in gray and black. Suggested retail $10.995.00

Opps! I just re-read your post, you are saying that the projector has to be mounted at 22 feet exactly from the screen. the only projector I know that has a spectacular picture and has that throw ratio is the DreamweaverII and its only $6995.00. It actualy has a better picture than the runco, benq, toshiba HD2 variety of projectors [Link: dreamvision.net]

Sim 2 Domino 20 will work, assuming you are working in the 16 x 9 screen size.

To figure throw distance, take width of screen and multiply the number by the throw ratio figures. This will give closest/furthest range of projector.

Always a good plan to not have the projector maxed to one extreme or another....

For the price range, add a Faroudja or some other high quality processor.

What we don't know could kill us, however.

Do you have a controlled lighting situation?
Where is the customer planning on sitting?
What does he/she want to watch?
How high are the ceilings?

To quote an oft used analogy, it's like asking which car is best....

maximum distance on an Infocus Screenplay 5700 on a 16:9 screen is 21.012' back from the screen. If you use a peerless mount you can move the projector forward and backward 4 inches. I saw another mount that will allow for 10" of movement in any direction. I think the manufacturer was Vantage Point. The 5700 retails at 3499.95 and is a Native projector. Great projector for the price. If you need one let me know.

Marantz VP12S4 with the long throw lens will work for you.

Marantz with the long throw lens is by far the best performance option.

Sorry, I have tried the Marantz, the infocus and the sim2, the Dreamweaver has a better picture :) everyone of my customers who have seen all of the the above projectors, buys the Dreamweaver. Only takes them about a minute on average to make up ther minds. Plus Dreamvisions cutomer service is amazing, you hardly ever have to wait to get through to anyone on the phone for any kind of question.

I think the conclusion is that there are several brands on the market at a variety of price points.

What brands you have access to may determine your decision.
