I have a job that I need to get a network connection at a gate. It is 1500' from the NVR to the gate with a Cat5e cable ran.

I have seen a device that will extend a network this far, but I can't find it. Depending on cost, I might be better off running a new fiber run, but would rather not.

thanks

Blackwire- is that product over coaxial or UTP cables? I know the OP asked about Cat5, but I see coaxial all over the product information. Also is it or its power supply UL Listed?

There is an coax version but I will have to yell at someone since it looks like they just copied the info over from the coax version and didn't replace the info to show RJ11.

LRP-101U-KIT: Single-port PoE over UTP Extender Kit distance up to 500m (1,640ft.) over UTP cable.temperature range from -20 to 70 degrees C.

Regulation ComplianceFCC Part 15 Class A, CE

It does not come with a power supply. It is powered via POE.

Kevin, did you mean RJ45 or is this really an RJ11 plug?

Kevin,
I'm glad you posted this shameless plug.
I'm looking at taking over a common network distributed to 30 buildings with some distances as long as 900'
in this case there is a commercial cable account that feeds a router into a network switch which feeds various other switches on the property distributing to each building.
These switches are in weatherproof outdoor boxes and die regularly.
My thought is to home run each building to the head end using a LRP-101U-KIT per run. I would have to come up with a neat way to rack these to look good but I like the option unless someone has a better idea.
I'm all ears.

Here is what exists. This is provided for the purpose of internet to each unit.

I think home running would be best. Keep in mind is going to limit you around 100 megabits of throughput.

Also if the switches are working but dying it may be worth it to look at doing something that can take the heat but at the same time the kits are not that expensive and would cost considerably less than a wide temp range switch

Because the products are using POE+ or a 56 volt power supply (optional) there is no pretty rack holder for them :( Maybe a clamping rack shelf would work?

They fit in the JAP rack shelf holder.

Charters service is 60 mbps so I'm assuming they each get full throughput unless I'm missing something.

Would rather keep everything at the head end.

I imagine that with that many I will reach the POE switch limitation and need a power supply.

Let me know what you discover.

If your max speed is only 60 megabits and they are not doing massive transfers on the local network then 100 megabits is more than enough

Lock down the total number of runs you need and Ill see what switch would work best to power them all.

I edited the post and said it does indeed work with the rack. It looks funnyish but works. The other option is to grab the clamping shelf middle atlantic and others make and put em all next to each other and clamp on down.

It looks like 30 total runs from the switch with 25 of them being over 300'
I will use these on those 25 runs.
