Been gone for five days. Come home Turn on PC. "Updates" Ok. Gone five days, i can see updates would be in order.

Takes forever. Gets to 100%. Then reboots. Then says updates AGAIN. Goes thru process. Gets to 100% and finished then ask for log in. I log in and now my pc is from about a year ago. Desktop appearance and even outlook 2010 is back on machine and no sign of Office 365 nor any new software Ive added over the year. What the helll is going on? ANy one seen anything like this??

I looked up restore dates. Only date is today and one from last year which appears to be the restore I am on now. Make no sense. Am I screwed? (oh, and not looking for PC vs mac debate either. Not wanted, not needed).

Thanks!

I've never even heard of some crazy stuff like that LMAO!

Good ol' Microsoft.

Is there any chance at all, that someone used your computer when you were gone? Any chance?

[edit] I just goggled this and there is some information about this online. For the few people this has happened to, it seems to always involve corrupt files. Some were profile corruption, others were system file corruption.
Need to do some research, as the explanation and sometimes cure, are very lengthy.
Hopefully you had everything backed up?

Sounds like it logged into an alternate, perhaps temporary user account.

And this would be a great time to remember to backup important data!
