I am working on the Xantech IRS232 and a Hitachi Projector. I have the "string" from hitachi in front of me, but for the life of me i cannot get this thing to do anything.
For isntance according to the Hitachi Instructions (CPX880)
Power / Set / Off
BE EF 03 06 00 2A D3 01 00 00 60 00 00
I enter this into the Dragon Drop Software and nothing. Of course i have dowloaded the program, adjusted the baud rate, etc. I thought this would be easier than it is. Any suggestions or more info need let me know.

Hi I sell Xantech over here in the UK. We have our own forum site at www.martekuk.co.uk where if you post this kind of question we'll do our best to sort it out for you! I'm at this moment reading the manual to see if there is something obvious. However, what I can say is that in my experiance it is rarely the Xantech product that is going wrong. Can you re-check the 232 string from Hitachi and let me know please? See you at our forum site! Regards

Think I may know what your problem is!! Do you have an RC68 Xantech Remote Control?

Make sure the the stop bit, data bit, and parity are set correctly if you are using the "a" version. Also the RC68 sends a command to the IR Receiver, the IR Receive then sends it to the RS232 mod, then it takes the RC68 IR code and Sends out a RS232 string that is assigned to the RC68 IR Code. If you do not have the RC68 programmer, you will need one. If you do a lot of xantech stuff the RC68 is an invaluble tool. Without my life would be cataclysmic.

I have the RC68 but i was just trying the program through the software with no such luck. I also have tried to connect the projecter through HyperTerminal. With the proper settings i have no such luck, i can't even type. So i know i am dumb, anyone feel free to kick me in the right direction.

dolfan, if you find a solution let me know i had the same exact situation after the rep swore that projector had discrete codes. I tried and tried to make the ir to 232 adaptor work but it never happened. Xantech and hitachi were of no real help so i ended up having to actually put a page on their remote asking if the projector had to be turned on ( or off) or not. Damn i hated it but i can only make so much out of what a salesman sells.

Silly question, but is there a USB cable plugged into the projector as well? Hitachi says:"2. If a USB cable is connected, disconnect it. If a USB cable is connected, the USB control function is given priority, and mouse control from the CONTROL terminal will not function." Also, check the connections on the 9 pin to 15 pin adaptor you are using, Hitachi lists it as having a specific pin configuration.

Are you typing the ASCII Codes correctly with carrage returns in the RS232 Strings. That was my first mistake when I first started.

In the software it only allows two characters in the HEX window of each string.
On a previous post, I never had a USB cable plugged in.
Maybe this Hitachi projo is bad???
