Received a call from they today saying they found me from customers reaching out and blah blah and they would like to accredit me. listened to a 15 minute spiel on it. As I am googling it as she talks i read... "BBB accredited businesses pay a fee for accreditation review and monitoring for continued compliance and for support of BBB services to the public." So ya then she gets to the part... for $39 a month we can set u up now.

I never realized the BBB actually requires business's to make consistent monthly payments to be listed. Thats kind of a crock. How many of you actually do this and are BBB accredited?

BBB is a scam.. I can tell you that they did not find you due to "customers reaching out".

During a quick pass through the real BBB website, I did not see any mention of fees.

I don't find the BBB to be useful.

It is a private company that other companies pay for advertising (accreditation). They have just done a very good job misleading consumer, particularly with "Bureau" in the name that they are a government or quasi-gov entity with any regulatory authority or any real purpose behind just being another private for-profit business.

Think of it like a less honest predecessor to Angie's List, Yelp, etc.

Sounds about as valuable as Cedia accreditation. Never had a customer ask about either one.

I got a call from them a few weeks ago. I said the BBB is outdated because of services like AL and home advisor. He shut up real quick and said to call back if I change my mind about the BBB lol!

BBB is just a big scam. As long as you pay, you won't hear much about complaints as they will squash them. If you look at the complaints, almost all the companies are NOT BBB members, go figure.....

They're just an old version of Yelp!. Scum.

BBB is just like Goodwill.
Independent business that did a great job over the years of convincing general public that they somehow provide public service

BBB is like CarFax, makes you pay for a service that is not accurate what so ever.

I've purchased two cars, 2004 Pontiac Grand Am from a dealer in Groton, CT in 2006. And a 2006 Cadillac CTS in Newburgh, NY in 2008. Both had a clean CarFax with no accidents or minor/major repair.

But it was quiet obvious that both were in a crash, after looking. The Grand Am had the driver's quarter panel replaced, driver's door repainted and the mirror re-wired (wrongly). The CTS had a crushed in bumper on the passenger side (found out when I removed the cover to replace the headlight bulbs.

Thankfully I did not pay for the Carfax personally. They both were a "free service" from the dealer.
