I have everything I need.

Freedom.
Family.
Friends.
Food.
Fireworks.
Fourth of July.
Fun.
F'n'a!

Thanks to the men who had the grit to make this place our own. Although they are likely rolling in their graves at what has become of it, it is still the greatest country to live in.

To America!

Neighbors last night started early.
I started hearing a lot of booms nearby, thought it was just the neighbors shooting again - they do that sometimes at night. But then it started getting really loud and heard it from different locations.
Went outside and saw they were setting off the big rockets and shooting them in ever direction. The thing is, they just had a fire a month ago out back, that burned a few acres and got their storage building. You would think they would be a little more carful shooting the fireworks.... nope!
As long as they don't set the woods on fire, on my side near my place.

Brad,
some people can think "well, we already burned down the shed, so now we have a safe place to be idiots!"

Everybody be careful. There have already been too many injuries from explosives amateurs hurting themselves and others.

This is a wonderful day to celebrate because there's a chance we might remember the kinds of attitudes and self-responsibility that created this MOST wonderful country.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Went out on a friend's boat with his family (fairly extended) for the best fireworks I have seen- we were anchored about 500 yards from shore, outside of the middle of the three barges they used for launching. It was well synchronized and really spectacular. The last flourish was a large group of huge displays that spread out over hundreds of yards and then, one went straight up through the middle and burst over everything else.

Here's the boat- he just got it (mostly his wife's idea) and it handles incredibly well. We took it out on Friday, for the shake-down cruise when he bought it, then again on Saturday- he decided to hang out about halfway through the cruise, so he asked if I wanted to be in charge. Easier to dock in a side wind than the other boat, too.

When we were heading back last night, we towed another boat in that had stopped running, too.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

All together, sounds like one incredible day on the water. Most boats serve "hero beer" when you tow them in!!

The weather was great- not hot, a bit of a breeze and it was almost totally calm by the time the fireworks began.

As far as "hero beer", well, the girlfriend or wife of the guy who owns the boat is a niece of one of the people on our boat, so....

First time out in the new boat, he doesn't know it and didn't prepare well, didn't have an oar, was about 1/4 mile outside of the break wall in choppy water and it's a 19' Sea Ray bow rider. Then, they were standing and moving around while we towed them in, making it very unstable. That guy needs to take a boater safety class, big time!

Also, it was 11:30 by the time we got in, so there was no need for beer. Some of us were towed in a few years ago and we gave the guy some cash. We were towed in last year in a boat that had water in the second gas tank and when the crossover valve was moved, it killed and wouldn't start. The guy who towed us is a customer of the boat owner, so the only thing he paid with was a bit of shame.

Best boat story ever....

Two of my friends rented a small boat at a local lake. Went out, shut the motor down and went to fishin'.

Up comes a BAD storm, and they cannot get the motor started so they have to use oars to row all the way back to the dock. Getting madder and madder the more they row.

They finally get to the dock, and start having a heated conversation with the guy that rents the boats.

He walks to the boat, looks at it for a minute, puts it in neutral and the motor fire up with one pull on the rope.

At work on Monday they each blamed the other. Laughing like little kids, since it was now funny....

Another incredibly common reason boats won't start is from people not clipping the lanyard onto the safety switch.
