What kind of ass backwards city ordinance is that? how is having a vehicle greater than 82 inches tall of any harm to anybody? I don't even live there and I'm pissed off.

Is this a city/town or a neighborhood association? I can't imagine a town banning commercial vehicles.

Rather than lose $10-15k in selling your van, isn't there a protected parking spot or tall storage unit you can rent? Buy a $1500 Toyota that is your commute car from the parking spot to home each day.

Or excavate your garage floor to make it 3' taller?
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

This is something you should look into.

Might cost less than the loss on the BUS.....

Looks like you need roughly 24" to 28" at the most. I would think that amount wouldn't be impossible to find in some manner.

How much room is available above the header over the existing garage door?

It should be possible to raise the header at least a little, lower the garage floor a little, and add some panels to the door, so you can cover the bigger opening.

The place where I have a storage unit has several parking spaces in it that have tradespeople's vans and some heavier trucks parked in them.

Parking is in the center of a cluster of buildings, one way in/out through a gate, owners of the storage place live on site and there are a lot of security cams.

Perhaps look for something like that nearby.

Hearing stuff like this makes me glad I live where I do. My driveway is 300' long and you cannot see my house or parking area from the street. I could park a semi in my driveway and nobody would say anything.

You guys kill me. If you don't like the rules of the hoa, don't buy a house in that neighborhood. Assuming all you whiners bother to read that doc before you pull the trigger?

If not, I'll bet you read it next time.

The issue has nothing to do with a hoa. It's about a town ordinance. I'll bet you have no idea what ordinances your town has. Might know some but I'll bet anything you don't know them all.

I have been trying to think of the number of vehicles that Brendan has gone through since I have been hanging out here. I think that it is 6 vans. Soon to be 7.

I think that if Brendan really wanted to keep his current van he would find a way or a place to park it at night.

I am not condemning Brendan, I am just saying that he likes changing trucks as much as some people like to change shoes.
If you are going to do the job...why not do it the right way?

This is a good point. Up until last week i had no idea that my town requires me to register my pets. We always assumed that the rabies tag was all that we needed.

Chipping away at freedom, one ordinance at at time. This is crazy. What's next? Taxing sugary drinks?
