Just finished an Xsource and its asking me for a new type of russound credential that according to the website may take 5 days to get.
Im tired and would like to go home.
5 days is a long time to wait.

You can call and they will do it right away. I filled out the paperwork and waited like 2 weeks. Never heard back from them so I called and they set me up right away.

Yeah, but WhiteVan got himself into the predicament that happens too too often: it's after hours and he needs something from the company.

The recent flap about the Capitol Sales website, and any problems you've had getting product info on other websites, fall squarely into this camp.

Russound should have informed everyone (unless he missed it somehow) just because they should know most of us work outside of normal work hours. For instance, I just got home from work and have 90 minutes of work to do before bed.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Hmmm... Russound sent out emails, letters, etc. to all dealers and distributors about the certifications over a year ago (maybe 2).
And! The info about the equipment NOT working without a certified installer, is pasted all over the website so no one can miss it:

It turned out not to be a big deal. They gave me a 30 day trial and approved my request the following day. The Mac Address is automatically updated as verified.

As for their plastering all over the website, I don't visit the web site. I was told about the part and reviewed a PDF that was enough for me to jump.

Taking a look at it, it is a good program and much needed. They did indeed announce it a year ago which I missed and they only recently employed it starting with the MCA-66, MCA-88 and XSource products.

All products that are part of the RCI program will be shipped from Russound in a locked state. Once they are powered up, they will only be able to display a message saying “Russound Certified Installer Required” (This is not your current Russound Credentials and must be applied for separately). The products will not operate until a Russound Certified Installer connects them to the internet and unlocks them in their account.

As far as I know, the system will not work unless a certified installer unlocks it.
If you bought it off the internet from an unauthorized dealer, you are screwed - unless you find a certified installer, willing to unlock it for some $$$.

If you are an installer, then you can go thru the hoops with Russound to get setup as a registered installer and account.
