The LED on the MRF when it's set to Zero is such an easy tool for finding a good location- I don't know why anyone would have such problems. I have seen the code assignment set incorrectly on a couple of jobs I took over (as recently as this month) and as soon as I set it in the editor so the MRF and remote matched, it was smooth sailing.

I have seen my fair of take over jobs where the MRF base was set to RFID 0. Pretty much every takeover job I have done with a MRF do not have the emitter ports assigned either.

The most recent one had the RFID set between 1 and 2, missing the detents.

I don't know who messed with it or if it was left that way. The MX isn't as old as the structured wiring install, so whoever programmed it may have just done a crap job.

That is the biggest problem I come across on takeover jobs where the remote "isn't working"

I have seen several that had only learned codes attached to the buttons, not from the editor. They seemed to have taught the macros from the individual remotes, too. Seems like a case of "Here' program this" and "I don't know how" mixed with a touch of "Figure it out".

Yeah, I've seen every mix of mess up "programming". I always say I love those kind of take over jobs though. Even though I don't make a ton of money on them, I earn a client for life. I take an hour to clean things up and reprogram the remote properly and its like a whole new system. Clients LOVE that.

Another Harmony today the client hates.

Toggle TV power is attached to the macros. I can tell it's got an old HDMI1 command because repeating it goes to the tuner input and snow.

URC next week and problems go away.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I was using a GoldX serial-USB adapter and it worked for other remotes, just not that one. I had to make some changes to this remote a few months ago (URC said they didn't see any problem with the remote, itself, when I was having problems with it) and I used a different computer that actually has a serial port- no problems at all.

Well,I guess that tells you how long a URC remote lasts!

They've been using USB for over a decade.
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!
