So I roll out of bed this morning. Go downstairs, my wife says "computer is not working"

It's Monday.

I have cable modem so I immediately think "VIRUS".
But I have a firewall, and all kinds of other expensive stuff to protect myself from the unknown intruder. What could this be screwing up my Monday?

Mouse doesn't work, Keyboard doesn't work, Computer is ON, I power down, power back up, Windows pops up, nothing working.

I run upstairs grab a spare computer, pull the defective one out. As I am removing wires I see my speaker cables are CUT?

Hey so is my mouse wire, So is my keyboard wire!!!!!!!!!!!

But I was on the computer after everyone was in bed last night.

Could this be the work of some sort of rogue garden gnome?
or maybe a small band of trolls needing scraps of wire to build a bridge to the nether regions.

OR it could be a freaking mouse. A piece of crap little mouse ate through hundreds of dollars worth of computer equipment because "he could"

don't these little creatures have any respect for anything? Or are they protesting our use of the word "mouse" ?

There's a question to ponder. I'm getting a cat.

Sky..The same thing once happened to my rig.

You were attacked by a swarm of red-necked fuzzworts. The sneaky little buggers come in the night, or after you are passed out. (whichever comes first)

You need to remove all copper wiring from your home, and replace it with aluminum. The little Fu(k3r$ CAN'T STAND aluminum. Also, paint over your cars, and other vehicles that may have audio equipment with aluminum paint. I suggest Rustolem. It has the added benefit of reducing the rate of oxidation of the metal.

The Fuzzworts have very sharp interlocking teeth, similar in action to the ubiquitous Greenlee Cable Cutter. This explains the damage to your PC. Get rid of all the copper, and replace it with aluminum. Come to think of it, you will also need to replace the copper plumbing in your chateau with either CPVC, or galvanized iron pipe. Call me if you need help with this phase, as I am a legend in my own mind when it comes to running pipe.

I hope this helps. God bless America.

Cheers,
Nickster

My wife and kids are the ones who banished me to this room.
