So it seems that the new Android powered Sony's have issues with URC Total Control for IP control.
Has anyone done the LGs? IP yes/no? any pitfalls?
Thanks in advance....again....

Seriously? I've been pushing to move from Samsung to Sony because of the solid integration. I f*cking hate tvs.

Sony IP integration with C4 is absolutely flawless.

I only did TC for a brief period but I know a few of the guys on here use TC and have had great luck with IP integration.

As with any control system a professional network is required to ensure reliability. Are you sure the issues aren't network related?

Exactly what issues are they having?

I have no issues with C or D series sets. only issues with () and some B series was that they had to get turned on with WoL.

I have not seen any Manufacturer supported IP drivers for any other major TV manufacturers.

3pedal might be on the right track. We recently upgraded an apple network to a real network due to the fact the apple network gear was stripping away communications between the Sony tvs and the C4 controller.

Network is rock solid, and I can ping the TV, but with the addition of the Android OS, it won't respond to IP (at least for URC). Iv'e read all the white papers and two things seem to be of issue.
First, all the documentation says to activate IP via the OSD. There is no option other that turning on/off 232 via either HDMI or the direct port (I tested in all settings as I realize that many devices see the IP commands and 232 commands as the same).
Second, after calling Tech support, they say that the new Sonys return some odd feedback and they are having problems controlling Sony at this time.
Iv'e found mention of using the "low control" method, but I can't find any way of getting this thing to communicate.
This was all done on a 49" XBR (XBR49X830C).... I have another job specked with the 75" version, but it's not too late to change spec if there are other options.

Well I guess it depends on what your overall goal is.
Is it to use the apps, or just on/off?
Volume control?
So if it's just the basics just use ir or 232
If it's full control, then perhaps a different control system

Well, [Link: dropbox.com]
is my Total Control IP driver written specifically for a XBR49X830C and it works just fine.  Spiniolas' driver in the URC dealers forum works too.

The only thing you need to change in the TVs OSD is Home>Settings>Network>Home Network>IP Control>Simple IP Control set to [ON]

After that make sure you're using a static IP and port 20060 to communicate.

"Low Control" are these basic IP strings which are not unlike their same RS232 commands. You send a command and the TV either returns an acknowledgement to No Ack and does something.

"High Control" is a JSON SDK for creating an iPad app with OSD feedback on your device. TC won't do that.

Thanks Lowhz.
That was the settings I was looking for.... Maybe they disappeared with the latest firmware update? I couldn't find those options...

Got it!
But you do need to turn on "allow mobil device control" before the IP control option shows up. That's the step I missed, just a heads up. Thanks guys
