My co-working posted this in the RTI thread, any thoughts or ideas on how we might un-freeze this remote?

I have a T2+ I have been tasked with to 'unfreeze.' It is stuck on the Home Page and does not register any button presses. It charges properly and the battery seems to be functional. My computer does not recognize the T2+ and gives the message "A request for the USB device descriptor failed."

First, I tried to cycle power several times by unplugging the battery. However, it did not work.

Next, I thought reprogramming may be the solution. After going through the process of securing a dealer account, I downloaded TheaterTouch Designer only to find out I must manually put the T2+ into "Computer Link" mode (which is not possible at this moment). I assume my computer cannot recognize the T2+ for this reason.

Are there any other possible solutions to this problem? Any thoughts are appreciated!

???
A T2+ remote programs with Integration Designer. NOT TheaterTouch Designer.
That would be your problem.

They originally programmed with Theater Touch.

Leave the battery out for 20 mins, then try again. Also get ID latest version. If you can get USB working after reboot try reflashing the firmware.

But honestly that remote is like 10 years old. Recycle it and get a T2x.

I have 2 customers that still use an RTI T2+, they always program fine with using Integration Designer.

Never knew you could use TheaterTouch Designer to program the T2+.
[edit]: I see where you could program several of the old RTI remotes with TTD. I don't think I would try to do it however. I would stick with ID, I know it works fine.

I have a T1 that's about 9 years old and still going strong on the original battery. The T1, T2+ and T3 were the most bulletproof remotes.

Try pulling power for 20 min or so like mentioned above and then try loading the firmware
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

You might have a stuck button, or even a piece of dirt pinched between the case and the touch screen. When pressing a button do you get the beep? If not I would look for a stuck button. A stuck button will effectively lock the remote up.
