I didn't even notice that it had to do with graphics. I got stuck on this:
Remote control configuration files that can be imported for use with the URC Complete Control MX-980:

Interpolating the information on that remotecentral page into the purpose of this thread, it looks like you may have it backwards. This page says there will be partial success with MX-5000 files into the MX-980. Oddly, "Import" is not checked, so I don't know what this table is telling us. But I thought you wanted to go the other way.

At [Link: files.remotecentral.com], the entry named "Import" is checked in a table given for the reverse case, an MX-980 into an MX-5000.

Hey, remotecentrallers, please look at this page at the URC site and tell me what you think it means: [Link: urccontrolroom.com]. If you're not logged into the URC Control Room, don't bother trying to see it.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Thanks, T. I'm irritatingly* persistent in trying to make it possible for others to learn more, since it gives all of us a chance to learn.

Why do you folks keep feeding the engineer of this train wreck?
Chasing Ernie's post count, one useless post at a time.

So guys I would like to report that I have made some very good success, in my " train wreck " endeavors. I now have the remote talking to the security system and can display zone and area status. But I am having another issue here. I am constantly get the error message that the "connection is closed by server, please restart" Any ideas on what the issue is and what I can do?
Guys I understand that for some of you this knucklehead just doesn't get it, lol but I do. This is not the easiest way or the most popular and efficient way to achieve this goal, but I can tell you that I have faced greater.
I stand correct though that I am unable to just import and download my old CCP file onto the new remote. So for that I must start over with designs.

Tkarns24,

Which unit is issuing the connection closed message?

Generally, I do not attempt to keep or assume that a connection is kept open. After a burst of communication I'll explicitly close the connection. Servers don't usually like to keep a connection open forever. Each server has its own rules for this. In some cases a dummy task can be kept running in a timed loop that does nothing except force the server to keep the connection open. This is not foolproof, however, because, if the controller misses one of these loops for some reason, an assumption that the connection is always open will fail.

How would I tell the server that I want to keep the connection open.
