And NO; as Mike already stated -- Total Control is not for you, and from what you've described, you don't really need it.

yup. getting repetitive.

The MSC call tell HAI want to do, how to do it, when to do, all day long. HAI Relays can trigger macros in the MSC. All day long.

The questions have been answered, so have you done it yet? lol

So guys I received my remote today and began to set it up, but I immediately ran into an issue with importing my 980 ccp file onto my mx 5000. Everything I have done for the last few year and since the my 900 has been in ccp and not editor, so all my files are saved as ccp. I have found some stuff on here, but most talk about converting an mxf file to ccp. That is not my issue I need to get my ccp file to my mx 5000.

I'm no MX-5000 expert, but I'm fairly certain there is no way to "import a 980 file into a 5000"

I've never seen a way to do that.  You can use the same graphics between them because the screen is the same size.  And you can use the transporter function to drag codes between them, but I don't see how you could directly import your mx980 file into an MX5000 file.

If John (Duct Tape) says it can't be done, then it can't be done.

Yeah, what compatibility page? I know you're trying to help, but providing a generic name of a page, without giving the URL, is worthless.

I swear I've seen such a page but I could not find it last night after seeing the recent posts.

When I asked someone at URC about this, there was no response about the compatibility page. I did get this, though:

Subject: RE: Import MX-980 file to use in MX-5000?

Ernie,
The first answer for the RemoteCentral.com guy is he can use the Transporter feature found in CCP under the View tab. Then he can transfer from his MX-850 file into the MX-5000. He will have to build his macros but he can do it. The older option under Tools is the Universal Browser. I would build the MX-5000 from scratch myself only using selected codes from the old MX-850 if needed. The database is the same for the two models.

Followed up by this comment:
I wrote MX-850 but he can do it with the Transporter and the MX-980 file too.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I may have some more information for you. It depends on what information you already have. This would not be an issue, were it not for the way URC got trashed several years ago in flame wars over information.

PM me the URL of the page you're talking about or send me the contents of the page. If I can help, I will.

There's a big however, though: it seems like you have the information needed to do what you want to do, but you can't make it happen. That would be the signal to me that you need to hire a URC installer to make these file changes.

Duct tape is a URC guru and Is the best URC programmer ever, arguably the best uRC has in their dealer data base.

If he says it can't be done then it absolutely cannot be done.

That is graphics. That has nothing to do with remote file compatibility. You are SOL if you wish to import a 980 file onto a 5000. Your best bet is as Duct Tape said and use the transporter to bring some codes over when needed. You will be building the file from scratch though.
