Can anyone share with me the reason with they think that the MX5000 is not a worthy product?

Lack of hard buttons, It has very limited 2 way integration with very few products through wifi only, the wifi reception is poor, and the wake up and connect time is painfully slow.

That's just the reasons off the top of my head

lol tell me your joking please

Nope. It's pretty much useless. And, add in that it can't be programmed with anything newer than Windows XP, it's becomes even more useless

To be blunt, with those restrictions, you need to head whatever direction your HAI keypad is then....

780's and 980's dont do 2-way at all, and I'm 99% sure that that MX-5000 only does 2-way with IP control.

MSC-400 doesnt do IP. maybe if you can find the IP module you could do the direct IP control through the MX-5000 but I cant think of a more painful thing to do with a URC remote off hand. Maybe build a custom Tic Tac Toe game with lights in the ceiling....

I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor though.

you need something diy. you will NEVER get good support on a product. its not what anyone here wants to do. look at roomie. it was recently purchased by logitech. i have never used it, but it looks pretty cool and i have heard other people have success.
I love supporting product that supports me!

Before you make fun of me. It might make sense to ask me what I want it for. I promise you that even with my limited mobility, I have never complained about my situation.

I was giving Bonavox a hard time...not you.

Why do you want to control your security system through a remote? Too lazy to get off your ass and go to the keypad?

And then i said...

You should see gow many people complain about having to get up to spin the dial and change the TV channel. If only we had a way to control it remotely :)

It was sarcasm...because our whole industry is built around people not wanting to get off their ass.

Well since you want to be a dick about it let me tell you why I would like to have it.

Read the Declaration of Independence again. I'm serious and this is not sarcasm: I'm pointing you to a class document by some classy guys, whom we should emulate more than we do. They listed their reasons for their actions. It's not unreasonable for someone who comes here to ask for free consultation to do the same.

I am a disabled vet with limited mobility, I have decided to add automation to my home as a way to improve my limitation. So yes I may not want to get off my ass and move to the keypad, but its not because I am a fat ass like you, but because sometimes it can be excruciatingly painful to do so.

If you had said this at the start, you would not have gotten the reaction that you did. I'll bet you're sensitive about mentioning this because people will be dickheads once they know or because you'll be perceived as whining. Despite our often being immature here, we can set that aside and help a person.

DICKHEAD

You inspired the dickhead response by criticizing people for not responding in two and a half hours during the busiest part of the day. You gotta own some of that yourself.

I wish I knew the answer to your problem. Sorry.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Back on topic;

I already PM'ed you -- call me if you need more help.

1-way control from URC to HAI is super easy.
RS-232 cable, and simple ASCII messages from URC to HAI.

HAI has built in HAI1 thru HAIxx commands that it listens for, and/or you can create your own messages that HAI will then execute whatever.

Mario is spot on. You can get the 400 to tell HAI to do anything. You wont get any two way feed back. But, thats not that important in the scope of things.

You could also add some features using the output relays of the HAI board. Tie those to sensors and have macros execute. You say you have some sort of voice announcement. THose could be triggered when the alarm is set via the relay outputs from the HAI triggers to sensors on the 400.

Was never ever a fan of the 5000 so not to familiar with its ability but maybe it can change a button status based on macro tied to a sensor from the relay board of the 400? That would be some sort of two way feed back.

Like has been said, the 400 has zero IP capability.

The next thing we can all work on is being a bit nicer and move away from the typical knee jerk reactions. I know I have some room for improvement there as well.
