This year I made my first home purchase. Recently I finished installing an HAI home security and automation system. Since about 2009 I have been using URC remotes and such. Today I decided that it would be nice to be able to control my alarm system from my MX5000 remote. So i called URC and asked for some help with getting the HAI module that allows the 2 systems to talk. The told me that it no longer supports 2 way remotes so that would prevent me from being able to download it.
I am looking to see if anyone here can share knowledge or the module its self. I am willing to pay for it if need be. I am not asking you to break an rules that would get anyone in trouble , but as I grow home automation my understanding of the capabilities of these system grows as well and I would like to see where I can take this.

Any help or sharing of knowledge would be great.

Hey is this in the wrong thread

You asked a question a little less than 2.5 hours ago and are expecting a response right away.

Majority of the people who frequent this area of the forum are all professionals and are most likely on the job making money for themselves. They may look at this on their lunch or if they have some downtime during the day but most of the time they won't be responding until at least tonight once their jobs are done for the day.

This forum isn't specific to URC and HAI installers and like myself there are a number of people on here that cannot provide you with the help you are requesting as we do not install either of the products you are referencing so there is no reason to respond to your original question.

You can try asking the same question within the actual URC area but my guess is that you won't see a response until at least tonight when they have some time to sit at their computer and provide you a proper answer.
You can't fix stupid

This is precisely why URC discourages provision of software, modules being no different. The only way you can get the two-way modules are on the dealer site or through an authorized dealer along with vital documentation on prerequisite and setup information.

Why do you want to control your security system through a remote? Too lazy to get off your ass and go to the keypad?
Bill's Electric & Home Theater & Plumbing & Automation & Small Engine Repair, and Animal Removal Services......did I mention we do remotes also?

if you have an updated copy of ccp, then you should already have the module.  it shows up in my 2 way module list and I don't recall downloading it separately.

I would think the better question would be why the hell wouldn't you want to. This is the whole point of home automation. When you break it down just about everything in automation allows you to be lazier. Or am I missing something? Lol

You should see gow many people complain about having to get up to spin the dial and change the TV channel. If only we had a way to control it remotely :)

As I see it, you will need some sort of interface device to go between the mx5000 and your panel to communicate.

Unless the hai has ir input (been several years), you will need something like the now discontinued msc400 to communicate via rs232.

Good luck!

the module looks like it uses IP control.  The MX5000 can control IP devices.

Those people would have hated watching TV before about 1973. Bunch whiners!
