Anyone know of a self contained speaker that is rated for a 2 hour fire wall?
MTX makes a speaker that has a small cabinet around it, but I doubt it's rated for firewall.

You can try Speakercrafts sound enclosures, Many brands fit in them but they are only one hour fire rated.

Jason, where are you located that there is a two hour fire rating? Or are you trying to be extra conservative (i.e. safe)?
If it is not a legal issue, maybe telling us why might inspire some answers.

Drywall is usually rated for a 1 Hour burn.... (I.E. Double Drywall = 2 Hours) Drywall on one side of the wall Plus a 1 Hour Fire rated back can on the other equals a 2 hour burn rating.

New building codes, in some areas. Triad, for example, is developing a new round speaker with a 2 hour fire rating. RBH discontinued back boxes for their smaller round speakers in order to make new back boxes to meet this code requirement. I think these changes in building codes may be an other of the fall outs from the destruction of the World Trade Center. The engineers who studied the fire concluded that it was the burning constrution debris that caused the structural steel to fail. I would expect that 2 hour fire rating will become standard on all commercial and some residential jobs; like fire rated wire.

JBL Professional makes the Control Contractor CT24C and CT26C. They are available as either conventional 8 ohm installations, or in the 70 volt domain.
They have steel back cans, come with tile bridges, can be mounted from the room.
A fine, robust speaker. And, they sound the same, regardless of the cavity you mount them in. (your results will vary, depending on the room characteristics....)
