Are there any actual native 4K projectors out there in the $8-10k range? It's getting harder and harder to wade through the marketing-speak.

I think this Epson is, but I think it's also discontinued?

The Sony VPL-VW365ES says it's Native 4K, then in the specs it says "Display Resolution: 1920x1080 dots max".

We have a client asking if there is a native 4K projector in that price range...closer to $8k if possible.

That Epson is not. Also not disco, just put one in our showroom.

The Sony is 4K native. I just checked their website and specs say
26,542,080 (4096 x 2160 x 3) pixels

Sony is it. I would hope that we will see some new stuff at CEDIA from the major players (due to the announcement of TI's 4K chip).

The Wolf uses the same eShift tech. that JVC does. It is not "native" 4K. Same argument was made for the Mits DLP sets from years ago with "wobulation" that allowed them to market them as "1080P" even though they were really just using smoke and mirrors.....well at least mirrors. Moving mirrors.

The Wolf is an e-shift just like the Epson and JVC. Sony is it for native until the 4K TI chip starts shipping

The Epson an JVC are E-shift and theSony is true 4K. The Epson and the JVCs have better picture quality. I wouldn't use the Sony over either the Epson or JVC.

Wait, do you understand the difference between E-shift wobulation and actual pixels?

Do you think vibrating a 1920x1080 pixel chip through a birefringent filter is a better picture?

Have you ever seen any of those projectors?

I have many questions.

I installed a Sony VLP-VW600ES a few months ago and was really impressed with the image quality (Screen Excellence 4K Enlightor Screen.  It retails for about $15k

I think the VPL-VW365ES is the only true 4K projector that's going to fit your budget.

The Wolf is not an Eshift. it is a twin 1080P chip.

No, it's e-Shift and says so right in the specs. In fact, it's just a JVC wrapped in a fancy enclosure. Not to mention that it would take four 1080P chips to equal 4K resolution.

Yes, I do understand and I have used all of these projectors. I am saying the contrast and overall picture quality is better with the other two. Unless I am at the point where the pixel structure is noticeable I would rather have better contrast, black level, colors than higher resolution which is difficult to see the difference except on very large screens and close seating distances.
