Had an install today with 3 TVs in a living room. The top 2 TVs are 32" Sammies & when the macro sends on or off it comes up "Not Available" on the screen.

I've never had this issue before. Anyone know what's going on?

I hate power toggles!!!!

ProControl .Z

Can't remember exact model number of the TVs. Customer bought them this year though.
Knowing that Gold went up a few K makes me think "well now I have to do a better job on selling more equipment".

Was a firmware update done?
There have been several models by different manufactures the last few years, that needed firmware updates for discrete IR codes to work properly. These might fall into that category.

I haven't experienced this exact issue, but you might see this message if you issue a Volume or Mute command a TV configured to use external speakers.

Yep. We saw this about 2 months ago on some of the cheaper samsung TV's. The 'not available' would pop up. I wasn't sure at the time if the set could even take a FW update or not. We made the client change the TV to a different model and presto.
how in the hell does ernie make money?

Talk about having ignorant TVs.

Send it an IR signal to do something and it tells you "screw you".

I'm guessing 5000 series or maybe lower. They don't make 32" much higher than that any way. I haven't done one of these in over a year, but yep, saw the same problem. Saw the same problem on some 40" 5000 series also. And last I checked, there was no firmware available to fix the problem. With the 40" ones I ran into, I couldn't find a working code through directv. So for a high end rental cottage at a country club that offers helicopter shuttle for their members, guests have to use two remotes to watch tv

Saw this a few months ago on a samsung. We had the client swap it out for a sony. They still use discrete codes

No, didn't think about it. But I don't think that would control the volume so it still wouldn't fix the problem.

I ran into this the other day.  the cheapie 32" models have no discretes, and there aren't any firmware updates listed on samsungs's website.

We had I think a 32" J series that would not work with discrete power commands, even after a firmware update. The TV had the "old style" GUI menu the vertical bar on the left side of the TV for sources and the TV would jump to USB input when smart hub was pressed on the remote.

Did you check to see if some other command would turn them on? This is highly unlikely, but still a possibility.

gf has a 27" Samsung that has discrete codes, but if you send it ON when it's on, you get "! not available."

Samsung were the geniuses who, in the mid 90s, before they had discretes for every input command, disabled channel up and channel down if you weren't on the tuner. We used those commands to make input macros before discretes.

If you happen to remember, back then we had to find some command that would ALWAYS land us on the same input, then hit input as many times as required to get us to the input we wanted. The anchor was channel +. When they changed that, we lost out anchor. EVERY TV for years before that simply changed to the tuner. It was the same simple level of logic that closes a BD drawer when you hit PLAY. And at that, not all BD players do that!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I'll be sure not to go to that country club. I mean come one, they shuttle their members via helicopter, but didn't want to pay for a remote control system?
