I have to be honest...I've never had the cojones to try it on an actual job. But some AVRs have dual zone hdmi out (Denon, Marantz, Pioneer and maybe others?)

I have a job where it would make perfect sense, if it would work.

One rack, one satellite receiver, one BluRay, but 2 TVs.

Zone #1 hdmi for a Liv Room,

Zone #2 hdmi for a bedroom TV on the other side of the wall (And I would prefer to use the TV speakers in this zone)

I don't think it will be reliable, even though both TVs are 1080p. May not even work at all. Probably have to use a 4x4 matrix instead...or have a separate sat receiver and BluRay for both rooms.

Anyone had any success with a scenario like this (or even similar)?

I use it in my house. Hdmi 1 to the main zone, hdmi 2 goes to zone 2 (bedroom) which is also an old pioneer panel with the video card. It doesn't have hdmi so I use a dvi converter. Because of the dvi, sometimes I have to turn on zone 1 for HDCP to synch, then turn it off after the bedroom has video

My sources, dish hopper, a Joey, Samsung BDP, atv, and roku. Since I changed from charter to dish, the HDCP problem has only popped up with on demand. If I use roku in the bedroom, I have to go in the settings and switch audio to 2 channel. And if I am watching something in the living room and pick that same source in the bedroom (except for roku) it knocks the main zone from surround to stereo.

Just to push it a little more, I have the hopper and BDP also connected with component and send the component output to zone 3 for my wife's sewing room. That tv has a local Apple TV and I'm sending the audio from the tv back to the avr so the atv audio will be on the room speakers

I did it once Living room and Patio. Liv was 4k 1st gen LG, patio 1080p.

It works but there was something janky about it, can't remember what.

Also not a Matrix, basically just a DA.

We've done some systems where the Yamaha AVR sends HDMI 1 to family room Sony and HDMI 2 goes to a Sunbrite on the patio.
I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone.

Sony recievers do that well. HDMI also converts to two channel for Onw two audio, so there is no need for blog cables. It does not convert for Zone 2 ( at least on the 1000)
why have a nice system if you cant operate it, program the remote the right way the FIRST time!

Casey...assume that you are using a Yam receiver? Model?

The liv room side of this will be 2 channel, so I am not burdened by surround in the main zone and 2 chan in the other. I will probably set all sources to PCM.

I'd like to use Denon or Marantz but have access to Yam and Pioneer. Don't really want to use Sony, unless I have to.

I have an Aventage 3020. But I think they have now brought the feature down to lower models. I would think Marantz would be solid to use too.

A lower model such as Aventage RX-A1050 does that as well.

Only 2 Analog Audio input and there is NO Phono input option.

We have done this with a Denon I think it was the 3310 (job was a couple years ago). Sources are 2 sat receivers and BDP. Only issue that has come up is that the one sat receive sometimes doesn't sync properly to the TV connected to zone 2. I think its more the TV issue than the denon or sat receiver (TV is a Haeir). On the main zone both sat receives connect every time to the TV (TV is a Samsung)

Are any of you using the TV speakers in Zone 2? Or all of you using Zone 2 audio out (line level to amplifier or internal amp)?

For my install we were using the TV speakers in zone 2. Didn't notice any lipsync problems
