I hear it's improper to end a question with a preposition, but "Could you tell me where the library is at?".
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

This Americanism is probably one of my favourite things to make fun of.

Again, don't mean to harp on you dude, but...

When will you learn the difference between
- could of and could've

Do you write like this on your proposals and emails to your (probably educated) clients?

Even Ernie has given up! I still have hope! :)

I haven't given up. I vacillate between the more or less PC
If you learned your language primarily through speech, you won't realize that what you're trying to say is "could have," all verbs, no prepositions, because you have not seen it in print or, when you did, you didn't notice that it's not written the way that it sounds.

Of course, that's only a few steps back from the flaming
Are you writing this way because a)you never read anything so complicated that it contained that in print, or b)if you did read it, you don't notice how things are written?

Yeah, I haven't given up. It's just a question of whether I'm willing to piss somebody off by pointing out this stuff.

I do wonder, though, what prospective clients think of things written like this. Maybe they don't notice or care. Maybe they think we're all illiterate.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

You have heard this one, where the Texan went to Harvard and asked that question?

It would be better than the proposal I saw, from another dealer- the store owner had the secretary type it and I think she just went with his pronunciation of some words but when I read something about a 'ceiling joyce', I wasn't very nice about the lack of professionalism.
