I'm thinking about this for my own home. I run my stuff with the native apps that come with products, Sonos, Lutron RA2, Nest etc. I would like to have tablets (ipad or something else) mounted at a few locations in the house, nightstand, kitchen wall, bathroom etc that are used almost exclusively for these apps.

I would love it if each could "default" to a predetermined app, but not be locked on it. For example, I would love it if the one on my nightstand would automatically open to the Lutron App when I wake it up, but still allow me to go to other apps when needed. The one in the kitchen would automatically open the Sonos app when I wake it up and then allow me to go elsewhere if I wish

Guided access comes to mind, but it "locks" the apps... It requires the app to be locked in the first place, then unlocked when you want to go elsewhere. Three home button hits and a password are a PIA.

There has to be an app that does this, I don't really care if it's Ipad or Android. I'm more concerned about it being easy.

Anybody done this? Happy with an app that does it? Thoughts?

Sounds like something that would require a rooted Android running a custom ROM and app launcher.

If you figure something out let me know. I have a client who would love something like that I think.

If the iPad is plugged in. Then just enabled "Hey Siri." And then just say "Hey Siri, open Lutron." If you have a password protect it, she'll ask you to enter it. If not, ideally, then she'll just open the app.
