It seems like it would be simple to write it down job notes on paper when walking a job, but seems like I'm always losing paper these days.

Do you have an app you like to use when walking a job. I don't need it to build the entire project, just add rooms and easily add thinks like TV, speakers etc.

I don't have an iPad, but I think the app called Bamboo is still out there. I use separate notebooks for each job- they're not terribly expensive and it keeps all of the notes in one place.

I would like an app for note-taking that allows using a fingertip or stylus to make the note, then rectifies it to standard text fonts.

Do you use a specific format for your notes? Why not create a document with the typical details, leave space for notes as well as sketches, print them and put them in some kind of folder that allows you to add pages as you go? Then, you'll have folders for the projects with the name clearly written on the front/rear and you won't be searching for paper that can be ripped, crumpled and folded.

Microsoft One Note and Evernote are great for storing all your shit and adding web clips and photos. One note I think you can even sketch in it.
Penultimate is a really good app for free form note taking with finger or stylus. It will do handwriting to text and it is a part of the Evernote system so you can quickly add your handwritten notes to n Evernote notebook for each specific project. It also records audio so you could narrate as you walk a site.
Evernote and penultimate together do pretty much everything you want. And on an iPad pro with the apple pencil it works like a charm. I still haven't found another stylus that works very well without delays, inaccuracies.

If pencil comes to smaller iPads I think that would be a great solution. The pro is kind of unwieldy for walking a site.

I use Penultimate, which is just a simple notebook program that works with stylli and finger, and syncs with Evernote.

At least grab a spiral notebook. I can take notes for quick one off systems in my phone. More involved - I haven't lost a spiral notebook full of projects in 15 years. Individual papers? Oh no you don't...
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I have a first gen surface pro that came with a stylus that I use to take notes with onenote. It works great and can change your writing into text. It also syncs all the notes between devices that you install onenote on. Windows and android have small tablets that come with styluses that might be better than an iPad to write with.

We saw an app at cedia called sales toolz that let you add rooms and devices on a iPad and make quick estimates. If you want to stick with an iPad that's the only app I've seen.
