Ok I am living in Tampa. I am missing Chicago sports tv. Is there any satellite service with direct or dish that will allow me to get the Chicago feed of wgn and Comcast sports Chicago?

If worse comes to worse I can get a slingbox and pay for an extra Comcast cable box at my cousins house in shitcago

Any and all help would be welcome

Learn to live without the channel. Take up knitting or something.

It won't work. They broadcast the local programming to each market thru spotbeams, so if you move the receiver out of that area, the local programming will not come in.

WGN is channel 307 on DirecTV and channel 239 on Dish. I know years ago I had WGN on our local cable provider. I dont know if Charter still has it now. I thought pretty much all major services carry WGN. I always heard it was because there were enough cubs fans in most markets that it just made sense.

I'll be damned, he's right. Just checked, I have WGN channel on my Dish receiver in Minneapolis market. I've never watched it.

I think that wgn is the national feed. Not the local feed. Completely different programming and no Chicago sports :(

Before charter bought out our previous cable provider in our area (close to 25 years ago) I watched WGN a lot and it had the sports coverage. A friend of mine in high school was a Cubs fan. But, after charter came along and started requiring cable boxes, I lost the channel. I figured they still had the sports coverage because that's why they got national regognition in the first place.

Ah, looks like you are right. Back in 2014 they split local and national broadcasts, dropping sports from the national coverage. What happened to America? I remember my grandfather would watch the Cubs, even though he wasn't a fan, and that they sucked.
