Is anyone out there using this system, and if so, can the UX / UI be customized any way you like? I have had several people ask about creating pre-made page templates for this system, but I know very little about it.

Thanks for any info you can give me.

I take it the factory didn't know. I'm just sayin.'

Though now that I think about it, too too many companies don't bother to have factory people trained to know such things, and just foist everybody onto a user forum, most of which are less informed than, for instance, we are. I hate having to wade through a hundred threads looking for the issue I have, instead of being able to pose a question to someone from the company who should know.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I just wanted to get a feel from people who actually use CC to see what they think. I have dumped countless hours into other systems, such as On Controls / iRule, only to realize what the company told me about their market was completely untrue.

Have they even sold any? :P Their marketing dept. is not super awesome. I bet if you took a poll of this forum....even of the most active 100 members, 50% or more would answer that they have either never heard of Compass Controls, or have heard of it, but know absolutely nothing more about it aside from the fact they have heard of it.

I'm certified on Compass. If you get top level certification, you can do a great deal of customization.

I can always tell who didn't sell and install and have to support a lot of Phast products. They always start their answer with "did you try tech support" or "did you call the company". Those unfortunate few of us who did have to deal with Phast have learned to exhaust all other options including a witch doctor before you ever even think about contacting tech support or a marketing department.

I will admit I had only heard of them (Compass Controls) and I saw a booth at CEDIA last time I was there. I did speak with someone there today, and there could be some interest in third party graphics.

The programming / customization software is usually the deal breaker, however. Anyone try to tackle Total Control Flex? If you can keep it open for for more than five consecutive seconds without it crashing or get one custom button onto a page, let me know.

Why would you waste any time on a product that probably won't be around in 5 years?

What did you expect from URC???

That might be our resident Texas Ranger Tuck. He seems to think it is the answer to all automations woes.

But I have no idea

Flex was suppose to let you design completely custom UIs for the Total Control remote lineup... should have come with a gas pipe.

I thought that came with the Ultra package.

Copyright 2010-2013 in the about tab with the latest update installed should give you a good time frame of the abandonment.

I bought a Compass KD-CCKIT1000 when I took the class last year. Its been sitting in the box still new/unopened, I never got around to playing with it. If anyone is interested in it let me know, I'll sell it cheap or trade for something else. PM me if interested.
