genie DVRs by themselves are fantastic. no issues at all. clients have been iffy in the past, i have found the most recent models acceptable.
I love supporting product that supports me!

Not a matrix switch, but when I power up my system, it defaults to the DirecTV box as that is what is used 95% of the time. It is running into a Denon X5200 and then to an Epson 8350.

When I switch the input to a BR or ATV and then back to the DirecTV box, I get no picture. I have to manually power cycle the Genie (HR54) to get the picture back. This just started happening in the last week or so and while not a matrix switch, a similar issue.

So this weekend I am going to reprogram my MX-890 to power off the Genie when I switch inputs and power back on when I return to DirecTV. Kind of a pain, but less so than getting up and going to the rack.

Bubby, your Denon AVR is an HDMI matrix switch; 7x3 it seems. It's just as relevant to the issue at hand with the OP's post.

Currently on-site where a client updated to the Genie system and DTV pulled the old DVRs except in the theater room. Moved a new C51-100 client back into the rack and plugged it back into the Binary HDMI Matrix Splitter.

Good news is the RS232 commands are spot on and video works. Bad news is I can't get any audio at any of the TVs.

Few hours left in the day, got a few more things to try.

No that should be right, it's DirecTVs new version of Siri. Just speak into the remote when that pops up for further assistance.

While this is an open forum, we manage to find ways to qualify members as things progress. This is pretty funny.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Ive heard a few speak ill of Genies. Pretty much all our installs are genies and clients and they've been crazy easy to control and maintain. Been VERY happy with DirecTV and dread when we have to work with Dish. We ALWAYS recommend DirecTV. Funny how we all have different luck/experience with things.

Of course this issue with hdmi/matrix throws a kink in things lol.

Only problem I've had with DTV was dabbling with IP control. One problem, the genie clients will not accept power commands from IP controls. Second problem, Ben when you set up static settings in DTV, sometimes the receiver decides to go DHCP any way. IR and serial have been bullet proof with DTV

In my own home though, I switched to dish. Just IR control has been a problem. Took lots of tweeking and adjusting to get it to work mostly acceptably.

What does Snap say? We have dozens of DM's and nobody is complaining. I just talked to a client with a new 32 x 32 and he said everything is working perfectly. There are 8 DTV boxes in the house.

Snap wasnt aware of the issue and is looking into it. They were also copied on this thread.
