We don't do a lot of URC remotes but I still like to keep my software updated when I can.

I just opened CCP and get the prompt that there is an update and to update now press OK. I do so then get a prompt saying that Live Update module unable to launch, Use Run as Admin method.

I run as admin and go through the same as above and am still getting the same issue.

I have gone into the properties of the program and ensured that all options are selected to allow on all users under the security tab - permissions.

My current version of CCP is 2.8.0916.2

This is the only software that I am having issues with updating.

I have also tried to uninstall and reinstall the software with no success.

Can you please provide some help with updating to a more current version?

I rarely use it either and just tried updating mine via Bootcamp Windows 7 on MacBook Pro. The update worked fine and for reference the current version is 3.6.0208.1.

Have you tried running it as an Admin and also in XP compatibility mode?

To check, right click the CCP program file and choose Properties then Compatibility tab

Mine is set as follows:

Run this program in compatibility mode is checked
Drop down box is set to Windows XP SP2
All other boxes are unchecked except for Run as Admin.

Also on the same Props screen there is a Security tab, for Admins, Allow should be checked for all permissions.

I have also tried to uninstall and reinstall the software with no success.

Is this from the URC control panel? I would think if you downloaded from there it would have given you the latest version.

Did you download the newest full version from URC?

Please be helpful to those trying to help you. Provide the computer make and model, though the operating system is much more important than that. You don't even happen to mention whether you have an Apple computer or a variety of PC.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

The one in the control room is not usually the newest version. Live update is for that. When you download it you will likely see the date it was created.

I had downloads to a remote hanging after a live update. I went to the control room and found that version was older and I could complete updating the remote I had.

Sorry Ernie,
I'm running windows 7 on a HP Elitebook

Mario, The version on URC's website was released 05-03-2013.

It would be nice if they actually provided an updated version that isn't almost 3 years old. I'm sure there have been many updates released within the past 3 years.

I just re-formatted my laptop (running Windows 7 Pro) and reinstalled all the software. I had the exact same thing pop-up for CCP. But in my case, I just closed out the window and Microsoft had another pop-up asking if I wanted to run the program in administrator mode. I clicked yes, reopened CCP and all was well.

So not sure what is going on with your copy of Windows 7. Have you done 'all' the updates to the OS before trying to re-install software?

Note: This also happened when I reinstalled the old Philips Pronto software. But same outcome, closed program, pop-up asking to run as administrator, and all was well after.

You didn't say which version of Windows 7 you are running (Home, Pro, Ultimate). This could be very important as Home version has issues with compatibility settings, if I remember correctly.

Also, what is your shoe size!!! If Windows detects your shoe size as larger than the operating system size (shoe size 9 vs. Windows 7), it could cause administrative issues.
:)

This must be my issue, shoe size is a 10.5.

Exact same OS as me. I'm out of ideas, it worked perfect for me after clicking 'run as administrator'.
And I didn't change the 'compatibility' settings, just checked the 'run as administrator' box

In case it matters (because it could be an HP issue) - my work laptop is an ASUS G75V

I just loaded CCP on an old Lenovo with XP, AND on an old HP with 7 Pro.

Both loaded with no issues. Both called for updates and updated.

The odd thing is that only one of the USB ports will actually work to upload/download to the remotes, where all USB ports used to work.

Were you faced with choosing CCP Commercial or CCP Residential, with zero explanation on the site as to the difference? It's been a while since I've used CCP so don't have it installed on this computer, but there was that random choice followed by the live update(s).

I've got Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 on my Thinkpad laptop and probably the same on my desktop.

Yeah, the commercial vs residential question does come up.

I went with residential since I have no idea what the difference would be with the commercial version, and I am not usually doing commercial work anyway.

I guess there is a difference.

Anyone know if there actually is a difference?

Commercial version just uses commercial room names and icons.

That's what I thought. It seems it would be whatever is needed for residential, plus some extra icons. Then I saw that the residential zip file is 20 MB larger than the commercial. Or does removing icons for bedrooms remove 20 MB somehow?
