Why is there an audio delay when using a Genie and a client.
Genie in great room. Wired Client in Kitchen.
Both on same HD channel.
Client is about a second behind the Genie.
Driving my client nuts!

THIS HAS BEEN A MAJOR PROBLEM.
DirecTV better get their act together or Dish is gonna kick their butt.
Sometimes, you can reboot main receiver, as soon as you see the first blue welcome screen, press 02468, this will force the receiver to download latest software. Sometimes, you have to reset several times, to get to download screen.
Sometimes, this corrects the problem.

Tell client that's why God invented distribution system. JAP would not have that problem.
Let's see, one device has local content, second one is remotely installed, with different processing requrements. Yes, they will be different.
Besides, you didn't provide DTV gear. Tell client to call DTV and have them fix it.

Unless Dish has changed the Hopper and Joey's, they did at one time have this same issue. I haven't been to this particular clients home in a while to verify.

This has been happening since they came out 3-4yrs ago. Hopper and Genie both have the same issue. The client boxes are always a second behind. We are on the 2nd generation Genie and 3rd generation Hopper, and still the same issue. I wouldn't hold ur breath on them fixing it anytime soon.

Sorry, but the original post sounds like normal operation to me. Hard drive located on the genie and a client pulling content to act as a tuner. To expect these very different units to be dead on, is silly.

This happens with everything. Even without genie/client dish/hopper. Regular receivers and DVDs do this. Each box decodes the stream differently. They are basically little PCs and everyone is slightly different. You HAVE to distribute.

Delay is due to buffering in the Genie server harddrive.
A problem I see a lot with Directv is horrible intermittent lipsync issues when they are used as part of a video distro system of any sort From Crestron DM to a simple HDMI extender. Direct HDMI connection to the display seems to lessen but not completely eliminate it. Weird part is it seems to vary from a little off to full blown Japanese monster movie
I get a fair number of calls about it from clients and experience it myself at home.
