How does the lower piece attach to the unit (rmk6504sr). The only way it fits, doesn't allow the front door to open (sr6010).

Any solutions?

After talking with D&M, they referred me to Middle Atlantic. Apparently MA doesn't have the dimensions of the new receiver to make new rack ears.

Marantz never sent them units to their rack ear contractor.

In looking at the diagrams for both...do you really need that lower trim panel, if you remove the feet? It seems to me the lower panel is there merely to cover the feet.

The side panels extend down past the receiver.

How about pilot new holes in the side panels so that the receiver sticks out further than it does normally. That overhang should allow for the door to open.

Might have to notch out the center of the filler panel to allow the door to open.

They have to get on this as I don't want to keep having to do this, since we sell racks on almost every job we do.

I just did three Marantz units with Marantz rack shelf kits.  The two AV8802A's worked great... there's a slot in the bottom horizontal piece that allows the front panel to open.

The SR6010 had the exact problem you mentioned.  The lower horizontal piece was solid (didn't have a slot like the AV8802A) so the door wouldn't open.  I just took out the horizontal piece, but now the rack has a gap in it under the AVR and you can see the feet.

I was surprised too that the manufacturer supplied rack mount kit didn't work... thought maybe I got the wrong one.

How big is that gap? Can you use a piece of MA gasket (Part# BG17) to fill the gap and clean it up? [Link: middleatlantic.com]
Door will still open and it will look clean.

No, the gap is about 1".   I might be able to do something with a Middle Atlantic 1/2U blank plate, but the way the door swings down under the AVR there is going to have to be at least some gap under it to open.

I'm bummed because the rack was all dialed in (BGR, RSH, etc.) and now I've got to figure out a fix...

Glad I'm not the only one. I thought that I might have got the wrong rack kit.

I wonder if one can swap the RMK8803AV filler piece with the RMK6504SR filler piece.

Paul, is there any way you can measure that or just see if this will work?

I have encountered the same thing.
SR5010, SR6010, AV8802 in the same job.
Only the 6010 had this problem. I just pulled the lower trim piece and tried to block it out of my OCD mind.

I have the same parts coming in for an upcoming build, I may try to modify the lower trim on this one.

Yeah, they need to fix this.
