Any tips appreciated.

Client is calling about once a week to have the XP8 reset because he cant operate anything through any RTI remote in the house with the exception of the Theater that is on a separate file. A reset fixes temporarily but comes back within a week. Luckily we have an IP enable surge that allows for reboot remotely but we need a solution. RTI doesnt have any ideas. Even APP based control goes down so it does not appear to be an RF issue.

Just got to the job and went to login to the Linksys router and I am getting a "bad gateway" error.

Also, client says Sunbrite outdoor TV turns on randomly in early AM. Not sure what is happening here. I have heard that the new Sunbrite TVs accidentaly have CEC built inside that cannot be disabled but I have CEC turned off on all sources. This appears to be a random annomoly that I am apt to write off as a missed off command or sleep but I will include it here in case it rings a bell.

Here is the system layout.

-XP8 Main with xp6 slave. Set static IP.
---XP6 Slave is wired using Sonos bridge (can not run wire but going to swap to ethernet over powerline). This doesnt appear to be the issue but could be.
-4x4 hdmi matrix to 4 zones
-RTI AD-8
-RTI iPad and iPhone Apps
-2 x RTI T2X
-Wirepath IP Surge
-Ubiquiti UAP's

Source components in case needed:
Distributed source component:
2 x Arris cable boxes
1 x Apple TV
1 x Bluray

Living Room: On 4x4
-Denon AVR - Elite Plasma

Master Bedroom
-Slaved XP6 over Sonos bridge
-Local Denon
-Local Source components

-Outdoor: ON 4X4
Sunbrite over hdbaset

-Game Room ON 4X4
2 x Sharp LED OVER HDBASET

Theater on stand alone system with its own XP6 and T2X programmed in separate file.

My thoughts that I am about to try are:

Correcting "bad gateway" error on router

Setting DHCP reservation for xp8 if it isnt already. Does xp6 slave need static and reservation?

Swapping ethernet "bridge" to ethernet over powerline from Sonos

Replacing data switch at rack

Other thoughts?

Maybe an IP driver for Denon.

I replaced modem, updated firmware on all devices, and loaded xp diagnostic driver. RTI thinks it could be an issue with the on board RAM of the XP8s. If the above items do not fix I will head out to read the diag.

Usually when things stop making sense, its faulty hardware.

Thanks.

Can you get away with another xp6 for the main to test?
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

My guess would be faulty hardware as well. Or a corrupt project, but you said RTI looked at it already?

I've been seeing a rash of bad power supplies for Linksys. Measure the voltage. If the voltage is low you'll have issues that defy description. Most DVM's have an "AC" function that blocks DC voltage. In this mode you should measure near zero -- otherwise the power supply has a ripple problem.

I have same issue with URC's MRX10, but issue happens at least once a day.
Power cycle 'fixes' it.
No changes to equipment, but I have been making constant changes to the file.
I have not had time to address yet, but suspect MRX10 (ie. hardware) or something corrupted in the software (even though I already tried to upload blank file, etc.) to be the cause.

As for outdoor TV in early morning -- could it be the sun?
Can you cover the IR port, or see if it also happens on heavily cloudy days?

Maybe create DHCP reservations for iPads?

The only issues we had with XP processors locking up where caused by unused/disconnected devices and drivers ( two-way IP and rs232 ) . Your problem may be related to both router ( how old is that linksys ? ) and sonos bridge . So when your xp8 loses communication with the slave - it locks up. Also remove that denon driver, if unused it will definitely lock up your processor.

Yah the diagnostic driver can be helpful. Problem is the damn log locks up and you can't view it after like a week. Wish RTI would get off their ass and fix that issue.
