Have a client with (sadly) a dead 85" Panasonic plasma. Water damaged, not economically feasible to repair. Would like to replace it with the best display money can buy in roughly the same size.

Room is not conducive to a projector so that is out right off the bat. Likewise, a curved screen is out (aesthetics). LG's OLEDs top out at 77" and the one at that size I could find is curved (too small, too curvy). My usual go to is Samsung but I am open to suggestions here.

I don't sell many displays this size, think I have moved one 65"+ in the last couple of years. Most of the time when we start talking that big, we start talking theater, just not in this case.

What is the best display for this application? Oh yeah, a black or dark colored bezel is preferred over silver or chrome.

Since he had an 85" Panasonic then I am going to assume that price isn't really a problem? The best 85" set I have worked with is the Sony XBR-85X950B. It's a holdover from last year which means it doesn't have Android TV and that is a good thing, IMO, because Android TV is buggy as hell. It also has full array LED backlight with local dimming. The only downside is no HDR support but that may not be a concern.

Wait a month or so for the Sony XBR85X850D 85". You do not want to sell him a smaller TV, that is for sure. :)
