You guys are an attractive bunch, so I'll bet you've had lots of offers. Well, I keep getting them, too: offers to join match dot com. These offers are from email addresses NOT at match dot com. A twenty minute discussion/argument just now with an apparently Indian lady who almost knows how to stick to a script was of no use.

I risked it all by giving her my email address and zip code since she said she needed to see if I was in their system. She said I was not, so she could not help me. She also could not find in her system the email address from which the emails came. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, three times, she put me on hold. She then came back and told me it would be a while, then almost instantly changed her tune to "a supervisor cannot help since your information is not in our system."

I've already done the "unsubscribe" process for a similar emails sent from a different email address. I got those for another week or so and I'm not sure they've really stopped. I can't block emails from match dot com but none of these actually come from match dot com.

Anybody know of a silver bullet for these people?

Gmail provides a tool to filter your mail, for keywords.

Settings -> Filter Tab -> Create new filter -> has the words "match.com"

What email tool do you use?

So long as match.com continue to pay spammers by the click you will continue to get the mail.

Download Tor to get access to the anonymous deep web. There you can hire hackers for bitcoin who will find the actual person who is sending this spam.

Once found you can use those same hackers to ruin the spammer's life and clean out his bank accounts or if you're really pissed of you could always hire one of several services who would attend to the issue in a much more personal way, although most of these guys expect to be paid in Euro, so you may need to do a trip to the bank.

Not saying this is the best approach, but it crosses my mind periodically as i sort through my inbox looking for actual mail.
I guarantee I'll tell you the truth and I guarantee I'll tell you what you need to know but I can't guarantee that I'll be telling you anything you want to hear.

25k posts and you're complaining about too many unwanted emails?
Chasing Ernie's post count, one useless post at a time.

By which you must mean create a match.com account, then log out, then log in and delete the account. Right?

The poor lady I was yelling at today could not find an account my name or for my email address. That's what I thought.

It's not a great idea to reply to those sorts of things because you are verifying that the email address is valid and sharing this fact is worth some money to the harvesters. I have a spam filter that is becoming more and more effective and if someone starts bothering me under the guise of match.com or anything else, I'll drop a filter in my email host and stop any such messages at the server.

Years ago the porn people harvested my address from somewhere and I started getting some very weird stuff. Finally, I broke my rule and replied to one of the messages that seemed be coming from a responsible source. I politely replied that I was not interested in their items and I would appreciate if they would put a note in their file that I was a 6-year old and I hoped that this would give me a few years of peace and quiet. They must have enjoyed my gentle note and circulated it because very shortly after the porn trickle dropped to zero.

Just go on dates with a few women. Once the women report back to match they'll leave you alone (or ban you).

But yeah creating a filter is the easiest way.

Couldn't you simply just respond to their inquiry, analyze every sentence, check all the punctuation, and just do what you normally do? Wouldn't that take care of the problem?
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I know you still use AOL, but even AOL should have a spam filter.
