What's the difference between the two as far as lighting goes? Why choose one over the other?

I'm a Control4 dealer, but have a client pushing for Lutron lighting so would like to get a rough idea on this. (I'm contacting Lutron directly, but I'd like to know what the community here has to say.) Thanks.
If it's not simple, it's not sufficiently advanced.

Well. Homeworks dealer requirements as a lot more stringent. Including working your first couple jobs with someone who's already certified. The hardware is more pricey but more capable. RadioRa does the job fine in smaller homes and you'll see it more often in homes under 5k sq feet

How extensive of an install you think you'd be looking at on this job?

Not too extensive. Perhaps 30 circuits.

Given that the client wants Lutron wireless (i.e not panelized) lighting, what would Homeworks QS do for them that RadioRA2 would not?

For context, I'd always thought that the panelized aspect of Homeworks was the very reason for choosing Homeworks over RadioRA2.

Its one of the reasons. The other would be conditional logic, but you can probably do that on the C4 side anyway. HW also allows for press and hold actions on the KP's.

For only 30 switch legs I would do RA2. Wired Homeworks will become cheaper than RA2 at some point though.

HomeWorks has an 8-year (prorated after year 2) warranty vs RA2's 1-year. More finish and color options. More keypad options. Much larger programming feature set. For a 30-circuit local device system I would go RA2.

Lutron Homeworks will be much more flexible for your install if you plan on utilizing a processor link for wired devices in conjunction with your wireless dimmer infrastructure.

For example, you could use wired keypad infrastructure, and more importantly wired shades which will save your client the cost of a wireless dongle and be more reliable with metal fascias or pockets because you will not need to accommodate the antenna.

Additionally the software will allow native conditional programming which is much better than running conditions through a 3rd party automation processor because the system will behave correctly in the event the automation processor fails.

Feel free to contact me directly with a PM if you have more questions.

FWIW we try to only sell QS wireless and not Ra2 anymore. It usually about a third more to the price tag, but doing conditionals on C4 with Ra2 vs doing them inside QS has wasted a ton of hours and it never really works as seamlessly as I'd like it to.

Plus, the jump in warranty is worth it.

That being said, for someone who isn't a Homeworks dealer, you could definitely do it with Ra2.

We do not sell Ra2 any more either. I think there is an added benefit to the end user I described above and the Ra2 market is saturated with people giving the systems away and then I have to go and fix it later anyway...
