Hmmm. Nowhere in any article do I see mention of whether tvs with a digital tuner (which most have had for quite awhile now obviously) will work?

I did see mention of encryption shortly thereafter the switch though. Which means you'll need equipment for sure then.

I guess the downside is gonna be service calls for everyone's installs that no longer work.

But I guess the upside is hopefully paid service calls for everyone's equipment that no longer works. Lol

Wow...wasn't aware that there was a major cable service with a non-encrypted service still out there....the providers in the Wash/Balt. markets have been encrypted for years. An no the Quam tuners do not work as the encryption is there..

Did not cause much issue here. Frees up space as people demand faster hsd. And prevents stealing service

Cable One made this move in our market last year. The only thing it did for us was bring us some business we would not have gotten otherwise. :) Working on a job right now that came because of this switch. 3 new TVs, new projector, a Tivo system, new receivers, new C4 system....about $15k just because they had a couple of old CRT TVs they can no longer watch cable on. :) Thanks Cable One!

I mean they CAN watch cable on those TVs, but they use the lamest STB EVER! And the UI sucks. And they charge you $5/month after the first 2.
