No, I doubt it.
The vast majority of their business is in commercial and cedia caters more to residential

From the article it sounds to me like Crestron is making a power play. I guess we will have to wait till 2017 to see if it worked.

Look for Crestron to be back and some of the small time IoT stuff to be vanquished.

Maybe they are tired of setting up all that vaporware. Still waiting for my ipad sleeve that will have hard buttons on the sides.

Being that Cedia is completely and utterly useless in the eyes of residential customers, I don't see how it can hurt. If anything they'll have a couple million dollars extra for R&D.

Maybe they can invest that money into new remotes that don't suck!
Bill's Electric & Home Theater & Plumbing & Automation & Small Engine Repair, and Animal Removal Services......did I mention we do remotes also?

That's sweet looking! Is that programmed with Apex ;)

I will do the exact same amount of Creston business regardless of CEDIA, to the dollar :)

I think CEDIA has been irrelevant for years. They exist as parasites who do little or nothing for those of us in the industry. Having spoken with a few manufacturers who know the extortionist prices CEDIA extracts for the "privilege" of exhibiting it is hard not to conclude that CEDIA exists to serve itself at the expense of the industry.

What new products have you seen unveiled at CEDIA these past 7 years that you thought revolutionized the industry and might offer you the opportunity to advance your business? The CE manufacturers abandoned CEDIA years ago. The automation titans cannot be far behind. What good does it serve?

Betting our friends at Apple would not license or that it worked with 30 pin but not lightning. Apple is not someone one wants to be a partner with.
