IF all sources are hdmi, use the key digital 4 in, 1 out hdmi switch with audio de embedding. Take the optical out of that into the Russound tva2.1 for amplification. Teach the Russound the volume up, down and mute commands. Turn speakers off on tv...
Certainly much smaller form factor than what you need.

Thanks - alas, I also need support for at least 2 analog sources. Suppose we'll have to try the Yamaha RXV-379, that's the shallowest I've found at 12 3/8".
