Great to see you still around Paul!

I was just going to reach out to Mac about refreshing my website!

Can you give us some costs associated with web refresh? PM/Email if you prefer!

I am currently in the process over re branding my company, soon signature will be no longer! Have some exciting things coming down the pipeline!

I'm Paul's booking agent, we can do something for you Mr. Pedal, will probably cost you about half of what that ring you just picked out did. All we need to get started is your.....

Signature!

You did a fantastic job fixing my site Mac. You're a very talented web-designer.

Thanks, Dawn. I just found and fixed a mistake :). After moving the site to your hosting space I forgot to update the link for the 3 teaser box images on the home page.

PM Sent Brendon.

Also, I just wanted to state for the record, that I contacted Mac a couple of days before posting here.  I didn't want to step on his toes if he was still actively working on sites for people.  He told me that he simply doesn't have time to do it anymore.  He was very gracious about it, and offered to put a link on his site for mine, for the people on here who might need help with their sites.

So, just wanted to say thanks to Stamp for that.

I've said it before, Mac does a great job with websites, it's too bad he doesn't have much time for that anymore so im glad he did mine when he did.

Having said that, I will let anyone reading this know that Paul (Hasbeen) is doing my SEO and in the short time he's had with it it has been greatly improved. From what i've seen he knows what it takes and I can't wait for mine to be finished.
Many thumbs up for Paul, thanks!

Thanks.  I appreciate that.  It's odd that as many years as I've been on RC, I'd never visited a lot of the websites of the regulars on here.  Now, going through them, I must say there is some stellar work being done by quite a few people on RC....My goal is to match the caliber of their website to the caliber of work they're doing.

Paul, I'm just on the opposite side of the custom website idea.

LMK when you have a template that you can use to whip out a website for me.

While we all do custom work, we provide selected few solutions (Wiring, Security, Lighting CTRL, TV, Theater, Automation, etc.)
Since I've been told for years to "be a brand" rather than "(I/We) sell those brands", I'm looking for a straightforward process of checking some boxes of things that I do and having web designer use templates to put it all together.
Sort of like configuring URC, C4 remotes -- components will vary, but GUI is pretty much consistent.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think this would be an issue if my website looked exactly the same as few dozen other's from different parts of the country.
I will say that I could see this approach being an issue if you have few integrators /competitors in same local market using same exact design.

Stay away from my website design. I see you lurking.

I'm glad you brought up SEO because that was the next item on my list. I have no idea how to implement this, what keywords to use etc. Is it worth hiring someone to do this on a monthly basis?

You answered that question yourself: "I have no idea how to implement this, what keywords to use etc. "

Im not sure myself what has to be done monthly after it's initially set up so maybe Paul can answer that but it definitely has to be done initially, at the least.

Definitely. You handle your business and they build your presence and bring in potential customers. SEO is our top ROI for our sites.

A template in Wordpress is more flexible than a GUI template for control. Even when using the same template the design can vary greatly. Colors, images, layout, and even font adjustments will create two different looking websites even if the structure is similar on the same theme.

Good start on the site and I see the under construction on your signature but man, gotta clean up your color scheme. That red text on black background and in your menu is tough to read. New colors or increase your font size and bold text would definitely help.

Hasbeen great job on your site, very sleek and easy to follow. Using a lot of nice subtle features on there.

BisyB,

Thanks for the constructive criticism!

Tim

I looked at my site on two different PCs (that I had set up with video essentials) and the colors looked fine. Could some of you guys look at it and see if the red text on the black background looks ok?

Thanks.
