Ernie should know what the Onion is. They have been around since at least the late 80's in print form. Maybe it was just a regional thing before the internet? You could find a stack of free Onion papers in every cafe on the north shore when i was growing up.

Doesn't the "from the 'is it too soon' department" tell you it's a joke? See [Link: urbandictionary.com]. I saw the thing about the Eagles and instantly checked to see the URL... yup, it was from The Onion. What a hilarious joke! I've only known about the Onion since the Hyperbolic Chamber article in 2005, but yeah, I know what it is. You guys' problem is that you can't tell when someone is pulling your leg.
