I looked at my profile today and saw that on January 17 I registered on remote central 13 years ago. Man how time flies!! Back then I was programming Pronto remotes, just ending the Phast stage (or was it Panja?), and had just installed my first Homeworks system.

Great Topic!

I joined remotecentral in my search for Pronto control workarounds, which were too too necessary back then!

I had previously visited a business that did Phast. My prior experience working at Marantz when the Tushinskys were in charge had hypertuned my BS meter and something told me to run away from Phast, and fast! That business felt like the high-powered pushy monster that would go down in flames. I wonder what ever happened to them?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Have you heard of Control4?

I have been coming here since the site opened but only to download Pronto files. I created at least 5 user names but i can only remember these 3.

I didn't really begin participating until 2007 when i moved from life in the city to a house with my girlfriend in the suburbs. At the same time i transitioned from mostly wiring pulling locally to mostly trim out and project managing at projects outside of the Chicago area. I know what you're thinking "lucky us". :)

I have, and the fact that all my experience with Phast was pulling out systems had a lot to do with the fact that i never once specked a control 4 system, although i did do it the courtesy of doing the programming course before my final no.

I joined in 2005 when i started enabling Marantz and pronto remotes after a recommendation from our Crestron programmer at the time. I started a reasonably popular thread in June 2007, because i couldn't believe someone else had not already done it.

I will be having my 12 year anniversary this week and smile a little every time I see my now 10 year old thread brought up from the deep, like it did last week.

9 years, 4 months, and change for me. But I had been lurking and downloading codes and files since 2002ish. Also for Pronto remotes back then of course. Actually we sold the Marantz branded ones. RC5000 would have been my first computer programmed remote. When I moved from the service dept. to the CI team, that is when I really started doing the dirty work. RC5200 was our bread and butter for a couple of years. Then the MX700 came along. I am pretty sure we did not sell a single Marantz remote after that. :)

I can remember back even farther than that, when I started at Ultimate Electronics. And if that does not date me accurately enough for those outside the know, component video was literally a brand new thing then!

Been using site for Pronto remotes back in the day.
One day I posted something in Pronto section and someone told me to ask it in this forum. That was the end of my 'free' time :-)

Seems like a life time.

I initially joined as a Trunk Slammer just to cause flame wars, and I did a great job of it. :-)

I have been a member little under 14 years.

Pretty sure this place is my oldest continual internet presence. And I lurked here for a while before signing up. Was a lowly satellite monkey at the time, didn't think I fit in with the "high dollar automation professionals" that comprise the majority of the membership here.

Oh well, 14 years later and I still have no idea what I am doing. ;)
