I'm out of the US right now and I'm using my Galaxy S4 as I have before, to send texts, even with pictures. All worked great on five previous trips and up to about two hours ago.

As of that point, when I looked down and noticed my hand resting on the keyboard and the most recent text not visible... any text I send does not appear on my screen and any text I receive is visible for about a tenth of a second.

Whatever I did, if I did something, wiped a few texts I sent last night as well as new ones from right now.

I haven't been able to find any setting that would make new texts disappear. I can have the phone delete old texts, starting with the oldest, when conversations have more than a thousand messages. It could be that, but it says it starts with the oldest ones.

I've powered down, then back up, and it's the same. Any ideas that don't involve a different phone?

Thanks.

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

A droid forum suggests that this happened to people after they changed time zones on the phone. It happened several hours after I changed time zones, and I changed zones twice due to having a layover.

EDIT, THIS PARAGRAPH ONLY: Sure enough, if I scroll back 11 hours (I'm in a time zone 11 hours later than at home), I see the current messages. This is puzzling since IT WORKED for several hours, then decided to mess up. I do see one unifying factor, though: I've been in this country since about 9:15 last night, and all the messages are showing up just prior to a 9:30 message.

It would be nice if there were a master time changer! In the phone I have to change from/away from set by network; set it to a particular time zone; and type in the time (whether you've set it to a time zone or not).

On the laptop I was told dropbox would not sync because the time on the computer did not match the time on the... on the local network? I don't know where it figured out my local time. But there's that, then changing the time zone on google calendar.

It took me a day and a half to get everything synced up again on the last two trips. Meanwhile, I've synced the time zones but I'm still not seeing the newest messages.

These are not the 'droids you're looking for......
What do you mean you wanted it on the other wall - couldn't you have mentioned this when we prewired?

You're phone just probably got tired of sending 8,000 character texts in response to "sup?".

It sorted itself out about twelve hours ago. Hmmm. I made no changes during that time.
