What is with these reality channels Discovery And History? New shows like American Restoration with all new people although one guy is still named Dale and Dual Survival with new guys. Really? Rename the show.

How about taking the repetition out of these shows?

Five minutes into the show there's a break. After the break is 90 seconds of repeat of what was said before. These shows that last an hour have about a half an hour of show, sometimes less. Sometimes a really interesting topic is killed by having to sit through the program twice all at the same time!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

If you watch the first 3 episodes of any one of these reality shows, you have effectively watched the entire 5-7year run. Stop wasting your time after the first few episodes.

What is this TV you speak of? Oh, it must be that thing I stopped watching almost a decade ago, when I realized it was obviously invented by the enemies of human kind to weaken us for the upcoming alien invasion, by sucking the already limited reserves of intelligence from the brains of humankind.

You mean that TV? Just say no, man.

So, Dean, we should just install 'em, then run, right?

A client comments to me about how this Apple TV is working and I briefly think "I've got to get one of those so I can see how the damn thing works." Haven't yet. The thought quickly dissipates once I get out of the client's house and listen to people talking with one another.

I feel the same way about sports. A 60 minute football game should not have to last for 3-4 hours! I suppose that is done for the benefit of the establishments frequented by fans of such sports. The longer they sit there and consume, the more $$ is to be made.

I hear you Ernie. THE most annoying thing about those kinds of shows is the repetition. I assume the type of people who watch some of those shows need it for comprehension and retention.

Enough with every single one having an unreasonable dead line. Way back American Choppers were guys building bikes, not too bad yet. American Hotrod had deadlines, but were six weeks or so. Now everything is one weeks or the weather men have finally figure out how to predict weather and the season is over in exactly x amount of time because everything will freeze over such as on Gold Rush or Prospectors. I admit I watch some of these because the story or what they build does interest me. Major network shows I can not watch. While I am at it. Fu apple. Since last update it seems you have removed the bubble when you hold your finger(middle) to move cursor. While on that subject Fu microsoft too with your 10. Screwd my computer up right away and went back to 7. Now where is that thread about what are you're drinking tonight.

One word; DVR. Three words actually. (you're welcome Ernie)

If it hasn't been recorded, I rarely watch it.

Even a finely tuned and trained athlete can't go balls out for an hour and when you consider the time needed between plays, penalties, stopping for the occasional measurement, injuries, fights, etc it's gonna take more than an hour. As Mario posted, the actual playing time is only about 11 minutes, but then there's all of the posing, strutting around, burning up the clock, long snap counts, etc.

It's entertainment, not an exercise in efficiency.
