i listed myself with monster.com a couple of years ago... They sold my email address to thousands of spammers- it was so bad that I had to shut that address down, as I was literally getting hundreds of SPAM messages a day...

Just something to look out for if you register with those guys...

(and, for those of you who doubt everything you read- I had 12 email addresses, each with a specific purpose. The address I gave monster.com was made specifically for that reason- no one else had it!)

Dice.com did the same thing to me.

Well I was gonna ask for some advice on my situation, but after readin all this Im definately lookin for a new employer. Im an installer/programmer, been in the field for 2 years. I program all the companys remotes, pronto, pronto pro, JBL, an any others needed. Plus I have recently started crestron systems. Before this I was an electrician for 2 years, so I have a lil expierence in pulling wire. My only problem is where to start lookin, unfortunately Im in florida. As of right now I do all this for a whoppin $11.50 an hour.

Got a new guy that wants 35 an hour , I'm using him on a job tuesday (phone system finish I prewired) , If he is as competent as I have heard I will pay him with a check and a happy smile , I need bodies I can depend on and that can do the job without me holding their hand , I know there are situations where everyone needs a little hand holding but that is not the case at 35 an hour (I hope)

I actually am looking for some training and work.I have some good knowledge because sometimes I work with my unlce who is a professional Installer one of the best in california but I want to learn more in the field. I have experience with programming pronto and marantz RC5000 and so on ,I would work with him more but I dont think he is willing to teach me and take me seriously he just sees me as his nephew rather than someone with a goal.I also have good knowledge on different brands and tools and what not.Bottom line if your looking for someone with some basic skills and your willing to teach I'm the guy I would take $15.00 and hour or so to start.Again I am not going to lie I still need to be taught some things I am no fool and am a hard worker I dont play so If you want someone who is teachable I'm it.

Layin Tracks, go to www.cedia.org and use their "finder" accessory. This is for customers to find dealers, so you should be able to find someone who knows what good installers should be paid. (Of course, maybe not....)
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Florida has a similar cost-of-living as Indiana and installers in this area make something like $12-$16/hour.

YOU realize how many nubble-fingered Fiat mechanics you just cheated out of dinner between Houston and L.A. ?

So it's YOU YOURSELF who is cheating the mechanic's out of their dinner. And stop trying to pass off the worn out valve shims as tokens at Chucky Cheese's.
