I discovered something that looked screwy the other day, and got this information from the horse's mouth:

When you have a Yamaha with two zones, the remote control comes NOT set up to independently control the main zone and Zone 2. The POWER and STANDBY commands turn both main and second zone on and off together.

After you have set up the remote to control Zone 2, the power commands on the remote change, and the general POWER command only turns on the main zone. When you do the proper thing to control Zone 2, which varies from remote to remote, that POWER command only turns on Zone 2. STANDBY works similarly.

I have wondered for a while why it was that the POWER commands that I learned (before setting up the remote for Zone 2 operation) always seemed to turn on Zone 2, and now I know...and now I can separate them.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Ernie thanks to you I just found the answer to the problem that I have with A RX-V1500. The Zone 2 was turning on every time I turned on the receiver.
I'm always right. The only time I was wrong was the time that I thought, that I was wrong.
