We replace them constantly. Apple extremes suck. Every job where we put in Pakedge and took out Apple, the customers have been very, very happy.

Some people just love those Extremes, I love to get rid of them.

I'm using separate routers and access points whenever possible. The problem with all in one units is that they are always placed at a convenient location, which is not usually a decent location for an access point.

Agreed.

I'll stick with Unifi for my needs.

I'm covering almost two acres at my own home with two unifl LR's.

One in the middle of a 2000sq ft house, one in the shop 140ft + from there.

Internet and control apps work flawlessly.

I did have an airport extreme a few years ago.It ALMOST covered the house but not quite.

It was also a pain in the but.

Frequent resets and mediocre throughput.

Ironically, i-phones were the worst and airplay was hit or miss!

Personally, i don't like either of those options. Anything Apple networking blows and the Unifi LR leaves a lot to be desired. Use the Pro's at least and you shouldn't have to look back.

The only reason why I asked is because I replaced an airport with unifi LR/Edgemax and range was horrendous where as the airport was fantastic....

I fought and fought a printer yesterday, client also mention airplay wasnt working on his AVR after i switched over....so stinking frustrated with range and stuff I ran out to my van and gave a Ruckus R300 a try and Voila! it fixed EVERYTHING! printer immediately connected and airplay worked.

As of yesterday I specked my last unifi product. Sigsv is now entirely a ruckus wireless shop! (maybe luxul since im testing their new waps/controller in my house now)

I've had some disappointments with the LR's. So far the new AC PRO's have been OK. I'll know better in a week or so when the next batch arrives and I install them in a well built, difficult location. It's an urban area with lots of neighbors, five floors, and wet bed marble floors.

Customer just installed 150MBs FIOS service. Their installer was great, he even neatened the Comcast mess that he was replacing. I don't like their brand new, latest and greatest Actiontec wireless modem -- that has to go. Just to keep me on my toes, the existing router died the day before the scheduled FIOS installation so I'm stuck with the Actiontec for a few days. In my opinion the Actiontec is difficult to set up and wireless coverage is not great.

It's no big deal because the old router and access points couldn't keep up with a 150MB line anyway.

Not a common brand, but I've had pretty good luck with Zyxel stuff. Got a WAC6503D-S AC AP a few months ago, absolutely no problems with Nest / multiple iOS devices / frequent AirPlay... seems quite powerful with an interesting antenna design, and currently has a 176 day uptime (not rebooted since installed).

Routers don't do bad either - mine's gone over 400 days and 30TB of WAN data without needing a reboot (only did it for a firmware upgrade).

I have had great results with Unifi UAP-AC and Pro line so far. I have not tried the new stuff yet but will be trying it very soon.
