So as many transmitters as you want "channels". Then out to an rx for each tv? And HDMI from the rx to the tv. Tune the rx to whatever channel you want to watch? A zeevee is each "channel" out to the tuner of the tv. No other device at the tv end. Doesn't zeevee (or equivalent modulator) end up much less expensive in a system with many displays? (Not taking in to account the HDMI/component video hdcp issue) or am I thinking about this all wrong?

On a large enough it can.
However ZeeVee does not allow the use of HDMi w/HDCP encrypted data (we do).
Plus the small individual size and cost allow the Tx units to be placed anywhere on the coax (just add a splitter).

As Fred pointed there is a place for both solutions.
ZV- Supports Component Video & VGA w/ Header info (and a built in text channel). Great looking unit and rack mountable
M3B- Supports HDMI/HDCP, sits anywhere on the coax buss.

ZeeVee doesn't work so well with projectors and AVRs.

How are the receivers controlled?

Each Rx decoder comes with an IR receiver and remote (I do so guest that you learn it's cool des I not whatever programmable remote that you sell).
It uses 3 button presses ##enter to change ID.

Whoa wait a minute.

I was under the impression that you had to have a Rx receiver for each channel at the display / sink.

Do you mean I can use the Rx decoder as a channel / input changer?

That's a game changer!

So
STB 1, 2, 3, Apple TV, Roku, cam NVR, ect. are available at each display via IR control of the Rx receiver?

Today we hooked up 6 Txs and 6 Rxs in the jobsite, everything syncd right away. No problems at all. We velcroed the Rxs behind the Tvs and glued an IR emitter on it, everything is Crestron controlled so we have learned the Ir commands from the metra remote and created the Macros, when a source is called, crestron send the channel number commands to the Rx and done. One interesting thing: it takes 6 seconds for the Rx to change the channel once you send the command, however, you do not lose picture in that time interval, and when it changes, it happens right away, no black screen and hdmi sync delays. I like that... We just added a rotating wheel on the UI so the customer knows that his command was accepted and working on the background. The distributed audio system in the rooms is getting it's audio signal from the TV audio outs instead of the actual sources because of the Lipsync delay. I am really happy with the product. Tomorrow we'll mix some xfinity boxes in the coax line just to test if it will interfere with the X1 network. I will post updates

If the Xfinity system is MOCA based be sure to use the MOCA filters in line with the M3B.

Techsquad, you did not comment on picture quality.

I have a small project coming up that I might look at these for.

A 4X4 HDMI matrix from Wyrestorm at dealer cost is pretty close to what 4 TX and 4 RX units retail for.
And at least with these, if the client decides to add one more TV or source to the mix, it's easy and cost effective.
