Hey Shaedee, if you go to www.homephone.com, then go to tech support you will have all the info you need to get hooked up. It is fairly easy, it just ties in with the exsisting ph lines (hopefully you have a structured panel, it will be easier if you do).

good luck

Guess I should have read a little further before posting....anyway, you will need to tap off of your bell wire and take it to the door phone module, which then ties into you phone lines, and in your case that may end up being near the homes service demarc.

If that were my house I would bring a bell wire over to the module and mount the module as close to the phone block as possible, but their are many ways you could skin this cat.

Mount the DoorBell Fon Door Box in place of the old doorbell. Use the existing doorbell wire and trace it back to the doorbell chime itself or locate the transformer for the chime in the attic. You will need an AC outlet for the controller. You will also have to locate the phone wire coming into the house before it reaches any phone. If you want to keep the original chime operating you will need to add the DP28CI. I would also recommend ordering the "Long-Ring" chips. This will increase the time to pick-up and answer the phone by 8 rings as opposed to 3 rings.

Do you have an answering machine? Do you use dial up for your internet connection?
Do you have a security panel?

You may wish to consider installing the controller behind certain extensions, so that your answering machine doesn't answer the door.

If you are a diy'er, you may want to consult a professional. Telephone problems can cost lives, while audio problems are merely inconvenient.

I have got question for you MCL1951. We install Doorbell Fon for every house (because it is cheap) , and we have got so much trouble with it.I would never deal with this , if I would be boss of our company. Sometimes it picks up radio stations , does not ring all phones in the house (up to 10 phones you need ring booster, but if you have Ameritech mail box , phones ring every 45 min. when impuls from telco is coming) , technical support is really bad , modules are using AA battery........ - are you really happy with this product?? What is number of module or chip "long ring"? Thank you for answer Robert

I've never really had any problems with DoorBell Fon other than the standard ring chip having only 3 rings. I don't know the part number, I just call the factory and request the "long-ring" chips and they send them no charge. I order 5 at a time. I keep telling them that they should ship with this chip. I never had any radio or RF interference either. Try using foil-shielded wire. Call their tech support. As far as use with 10 or more phones, that's not what this product is intended for. It's an inexpensive answer to a KSU/PBX door bell like a Panasonic for use in a smaller house. If they have a house over 3000 square feet and have 10 or more phones, they need a KSU/PBX phone system! The new Panasonic KX-TAW848 is very nice.
