So... Update.

We ended up getting state L&I warnings to the company, our admin and my crew for the following...

1) Not having a permit related to class B eligible work. This despite specific language that says class B applies to "Repair or Replacement" (not new work) and that a specific Class B permit does not apply because the house was over 5000 sq ft.

2) Not wearing licenses on the outside of clothing. My guys had them in their wallets and immediately presented them when requested to do so. I must say I have NEVER seen guys wearing the armbands on residential jobs and NEVER had an inspector in any jurisdiction say boo about this. This despite specific language saying this was not required when working in hazardous environments. My guys were in and out of the crawl space where armbands can be easily snagged which seems to meet this qualification.

As a result of this we will ALWAYS be pulling a security by square footage permit on state jobs even if we are not doing security. That is one of the only options the state provides online. There is no election for AV, networking or other low volt applications in their permitting process.

The regulations are so much different here in Oz. We don't have to go through any of this BS you guys are talking about.
Just be licensed to do your job, carry your card with you and sign off on the job at the end. That pretty much covers it.
Only about 20% of jobs get inspected (if that), but there are harsh penalties for doing the wrong thing, so people generally do the right thing.
I guarantee I'll tell you the truth and I guarantee I'll tell you what you need to know but I can't guarantee that I'll be telling you anything you want to hear.
